Tracking Playstore app sales

I ran an A/B test on the Playstore Store Presence listing experiments. And it showed a greater download/install rate on one listing.

However, wondering about tracking that in terms of Sales$? Maybe it's not possible?

Yeah I don't think you can track through Google which listing leads to a user making an in-app purchase. But you can try to improve sales using Firebase A/B testing: https://firebase.google.com/docs/ab-testing. Curious about your experience with IAP sales on Android, I'm finally gonna add some premium IAPs to my app & looking to continue learning more myself.

Thanks I'll try with Firebase. Hoping to quantify not just playsTore referal sales but all the way back from original funnel without having to build the tower of Babel to do so.

With IAP adding, is that with your journalling app?

Looks nice I'm going to try it.

Yeah I hear you on that, I have Firebase Dynamic Links implemented for simple referral share links but & it's an ok experience. I know there are other mobile attribution tools to track things like Branch.io but the deeper you go the more bloated your app can become in my opinion. I removed all my main analytics besides Crashlytics, I may add things back later or rethink my approach in future apps idk.

Yeah for my journaling app, I added IAP functionality in my iOS app like 9 months back & used to have IAP in my Android app for simple donations but I removed that like 2 years ago. Gonna revisit IAP for Android with extra features with IAP. Do you code natively for Android or cross-platform? If you have IAP implemented already, curious what packages/libs you used for your app?

Ive been wanting to do journalling, it's one of those things that's sort of in my ' I should do that basket.' There's a great little segment with Matthew McConaughey on JRE about the benefits of decades of journalling.

I sort of need some motivation spiking to get me in the groove. I'm already journalling my days food, so I'm kind of in the right direction :)

Cool I'll check that episode out, I also have his book on my read list. Yeah I feel you on getting the motivation spiking.

Thanks I'll check out FB dynamic links, appreciate the tips.

The app is written in Kotlin and only on Android.

Would an IAP to Search by keyword be useful? If a person is searching they are already a committed user, and they have a genuine need to find something historical. Needs = $

Feel free to shoot me a message if you wanted to hash out some monetizing methods.

Oh that's cool you're building natively. I did my Android in Java originally & then converted to Kotlin.

On IAP, good idea - I actually do have Search in the iOS version behind an IAP & was planning the same for Android but just have not had the focus & energy to dive deep on new feature development even though probably isn't much. I feel distracted a lot lately when I try to code.

Most definitely! I'll remember that when I get more into my code again & make good progress on new features.

Oh one question, how do you handle your paywall functionality? Do you just use SharedPreferences for simple flags to hide/unlock paid features?

            1. 2

WIth the paywall, we allow all features except for once there is 4 or more active contacts with tasks, then it prompts for IAP. But not using sharedpreferences, as it does a constant check if the limit has been hit.

This way the user can have unlimited Notes, setup their own custom folders and embed themselves a good deal.

I'm curious how you were able to get so many ratings left?

              1. 2

Nice ok cool, I was only mentioning sharedpreferences because I imagine using an "isPremium" flag for checks when necessary so just curious - that's essentially what I do in my iOS app since it's just a 1-time purchase.

For ratings, the biggest thing is just prompting users to give you ratings - even if it seems annoying it is the greatest driver for ratings. Also if you communicate with users for bug fixes or other feedback, if the experience is positive you can ask them directly to leave you a review.

                  Thanks again 👍

I sent you an email too if you wanted to chat in more depth.
