TrailDrop – Simple GPX sharing with AI enrichment

When I got into e-biking last year, I was planning routes from various sources — YouTube channels, Strava heatmaps, and Komoot — and creating my own GPX files to explore.

The problem? Sharing those GPX routes with friends was a painful experience. They needed to sign up for apps, download software, or dig through features they didn’t care about… to see the trail.

So I built something small for myself: TrailDrop 🚴‍♂️

Upload a GPX → get an instant link.

Friends can open it on their phone or desktop and instantly see:

- map with route

- slope & elevation profile

- distance and total gain

No signups, no installs — just the route.

I’ve been using it for planning group rides — even with people who don’t own a GPS device but still want to preview the trail before deciding to join.

Now I’m curious:

- How do you currently share routes with friends or your group?

- Would something lightweight like this solve a pain point for you?

If you want to test, here’s the demo: https://traildrop.app
