Over the past two years I've found success online through eCommerce, running a few of my own stores, doing just over 7 figures in revenue, turning a low 6 figure profit yearly. I learned a great deal, and feel like I'm in the position to build a highly profitable and scalable SaaS business, however I am struggling to get started due to my own technical limitations - and struggling to find that "Goldilocks" idea that I'm passionate about, has room for growth, and that I'm confident I'll see an ROI from.
What I want to ask the IH community is:
If you were in my position and had the resources and marketing ability without the technical know how, where would you spend your $ when in the early stages of getting into a SaaS business?
Also, what pitfalls are important to look out for as the cocky overconfident marketing guy?
Thank you!
Hi there, interesting post because I'm on a similar journey. I just got into ecom this year, and as good of an experience it's been, I'm a solo bootstrapped entrepreneur and new mom, and think a good SaaS product would be easier for me to scale. Have you thought about doing a coding bootcamp, so that you can get a good handle on the fundamentals? It may also help you network to find a developer by being immersed in that community.
I went through one of those bootcamps (though I did have some previous self-taught web development skills) and I feel confident enough to build my own product (at least an MVP) from there.
Good luck!
Hey there, I have a question for you also...
What kept you motivated doing the multiple e-commerce sites?
The quick ROI honestly and results
I can understand that and have realised quite recently how important “quick wins” are for motivation. My theory is that lack of traction or results is the reason why so many side projects are abandoned.
