Hi!
I just had an idea for a product, in all my previous companies, managing translations has always been a painful/dreadful experience, all the ad-hoc solutions are terrible.
Either you end-up creating spreadsheets, copying and pasting strings or json objects into slack, or try to teach non-technical people how to commit code to git (that works terribly once you have to explain them how to resolve a merge conflict)
There are also some existing online services, like locize, but they are horribly priced and/or over engineered.
I was thinking about building a simple webapp for starters, somewhere were you connect your github account and you can point the app to your translation files and non-technical users can commit the translations directly from the platform using a nice interface, no copy and paste, with built in notifications when new strings need to be translated and so on
WDYT?
Hey i have created an app that translate json files into multiple languages without breaking placeholders. Here is the link if you want to check it out: https://localizejson.lovable.app
Your idea for a simplified translation management webapp sounds incredibly valuable. Simplifying the translation process and providing a user-friendly interface for non-technical team members could be a game-changer. By integrating with GitHub and offering built-in notifications, you're addressing a pain point that many teams encounter. Keep it user-focused, and you might have a solution that truly streamlines and enhances the translation management experience. Good luck with your project!
First of all, do extensive research and make sure that your business is a good fit for a new market, that there’s sufficient demand to justify investing in a presence there, and that expansion will result in growth.
On the other side, the wrong partner can act as an encumbrance to global growth. You need the right commerce platform partner to support your expansion into local and markets worldwide and help you reap your benefits.

This hits the spot.
A big customer we power integrations for required translations of the integrations UI in 6 different languages.
And it was done exactly the same way you've mentioned.
Google sheets, strings being added there and translated. Then some stuff got lost in translations and the endless feedback loop.
You're definitely onto something here, Oscar!
I saw this exact problem at a past company too!
For those interested I have now created a landing page with a sign-up form to notify you when the product is ready

Hey FYI, the images on your site took ~10s to load for me with a good connection, I thought the site was empty before that.
thanks for noticing, it's deployed on heroku and it's already pretty bare bones... I'll try to debug it
Maybe the image sizes are just very large, you could try with a bit lower quality?
Looks like there is a leak in Next.js Image component 🙄 should be better now...
But in any case, the email capture is not working currently 😂 Convertkit has blocked me until I provide more information
Aww sorry to hear, hope you can get it solved. At least the site works now again.
Good idea
I like the idea. And it could go further than that.
It's always a pain to send off strings for localisation as one document, and have them come back from somewhere like Gengo as separate documents per language.
It would be nice if those platforms grouped by localisation again to make it easier to re-integrate.
Maybe checkout https://crowdin.com/, we are using it and it really streamlined handling translations in apps.
Yeah, I already knew of locize, crowdin and other platforms, their pricing is too complex and they try to lock you into the platform at all costs, but thanks for pointing them out
Amazing idea, I like that and I would use it.
