Hey fellow hackers,
I wanted to share a challenge I’ve been navigating over the past year and how a visual framework I built, called DecisionTheatre (DT), helped me systematically break out of a paralyzing mental loop. If you have ever been through a career transition or a prolonged job search, you probably recognize the compounding mental loops that these high-stress periods induce.
For months, anxiety manifested as a severe freeze response whenever I received social invitations. It resulted in complete isolation, which I caught myself misattributing to just becoming an anti-social person.
But spending a long period in near-total isolation forces you to analyze your own cognitive patterns. I couldn't afford therapy, so I needed a systematic way to decode these internal feedback loops on my own.
The core realization was structural. The isolation wasn't an aversion to my friends or social settings; it was a psychological defense mechanism. It was engineered to avoid the dread and status anxiety associated with the inevitable question, "So, what are you up to these days?", particularly after earning my Master's degree.
To address this, I built DecisionTheatre. Backed by behavioral science, DT is a visual framework designed to map complex mental loops, externalize paralyzing decision points, and run objective trade-off analyses. Visualizing my options made the mechanics of my avoidance behavior crystal clear, effectively mitigating the freeze response.
Building this framework was also an exercise in reclaiming agency. When a tough job market deprives you of external validation, building your own product becomes a mechanism to demonstrate technical capability and strategic execution on your own terms.
Following a lot of product iterations, the platform is live. My current objective is to scale DecisionTheatre into a utility that assists others experiencing transition-induced paralysis, cognitive loops, or career-related isolation.
The live system can be evaluated at: decisiontheatre.lovable.app
As a first-time female founder entering this space, I am actively seeking raw feedback, technical insights, and product critiques from this community. For those who have built your own systems to counter the freeze response or had to carve your own path when conventional doors were shut, I welcome your perspective.
Let's connect in the comments to discuss the behavioral mechanics and how to maintain strategic execution without the mental friction.
