Travel like Anthony Bourdain project feedback

I'd really appreciate your feedback on my copy and idea :) I just started this a week ago (and tweaked my idea little by little every day) so any feedback would be great. Thanks so much!

    I like the idea.

    Some notes:

    • I personally don't like the name; moonchild has some negative connotations? Not sure if that's just me.

    • I would move the "a bit about me" directly onto the landing page + underneath each of the event listings. I think it's compelling, and should be surfaced. I think anyone who is going to sign up is going to want to know who they are going with. From there, you can link to the "how it got started" story.

    • would be good to also know about anyone else who has joined the trip

    • I would add some more info on each event:

    • "interesting locals" .. who would we be hanging out with?

    • what are some of the events we'll take part in. maybe some airbnb experiences, or sofarsounds, or specific events you have planned?

    • maybe a list of restaurants you're considering going to, or if you could join an eatwith type thing if you have enough participants.

    ---

Also, I could be interested in hanging out in Berlin if I'm free during those dates. Feel free to hit me up :)

    Some tips for Berlin:

Askhelmut.com is a good source for events in Berlin; residentadvisor for club events.

eatler.de also has a weekly posting on different food popups that are happening.

https://www.smb.museum/veranstaltungen.html ; Berlin has some great museums, and they have tours in English sometimes. They are usually very worth going to, IMO (low attendance + great tour guides, usually).

Also, lunch concerts at the philharmonic:
    https://www.berliner-philharmoniker.de/en/concerts/lunch-concerts/

    Other highlights in Berlin:

Boros Foundation - a former bunker turned private art collection. Reservations required, guided tours only.

Tours of the reichstag -- reservations required, usually 3+ weeks in advance.

Botanical Garden -- third largest in the world, I think. Really great, if you're into botanical gardens.

Stasi museum - Former Stasi headquarters, now museum.

https://www.airbnb.com/experiences/318248?source=p2 -- might be an interesting airbnb experience to go on, and you could probably message her directly for a discounted rate.

I can also recommend restaurants in Berlin if you let me know where you're staying & what you're looking for/price range. I've been here for about a year and have been to 100+ of the best rated places.

    cheers

This is a super cool idea though, I would definitely consider doing something like this. Send me a message if you'll be heading to Southeast Asia over the next year or two!

Thanks so much @bennettnewhook! I just came back from Laos but might return to SE Asia soon :)

Your website name should relate to the core idea of the site, but as someone who has never heard the word 'moonchild' before, the ideas of the site are conflicting. When people think of Anthony Bourdain they think of grit, raw passion, adventure. The word moonchild conveys lightheartedness, childish joy. Very conflicting ideas.

Very important that your landing page is concise but gives a consistent tone throughout.

Totally agree with both points. Thanks for the feedback!!

I can't believe this! I literally had this idea a few weeks ago so I think it's great.

My husband and I have been watching all the No Reservations on Netflix and I thought, I don't want to just go to San Sebastian, I want to go there and hang with the locals like he did. Is there a service for that?

So for the business concept. I am 100% your target market....

I agree the name doesn't jive with the business model. Sounds like it's for kids.

Also I think the model doesn't exactly work for me. With my idea, you rent out a host or guide to take you around their city.. like airbnb for people. So you would pick the different people you want to spend time with. I can see that women traveling solo might feel more comfortable with a female host/guide, etc... and then each guide can have a few activities for the guests to choose from. Each person would have their own unique favorite places, interests, languages they speak, etc...

Clearly this would be a marketplace, and harder to build. But that's what would appeal to me (assuming the guides were amazing!)

Hi Rachel! Thanks so much for the feedback. Right? Everytime I watch his shows, I wish I was his sidekick.

Agreed with the name. I don't like it either and plan to change. Names are hard!

Have you tried Airbnb Experiences? It does exactly what you mentioned! The host is usually someone really interesting (I got to go to a local market with a Lao chef!) and they take you on different experiences.

I'll have to tweak many times to make this idea work! But I think there's something special about eating with people :)

Thank you so much for your feedback!!

Hey Jiwon. You have a decent "About" page which contains 90% of the content of the whole website. How about putting that page on a visible place such as this: https://take.ms/Hui0x

Thanks so much for the feedback! Do you mean put a whole "about" section under main "let's travel like anthony bourdain" section?

I think a button will do the trick: https://take.ms/g3JGl
In your case, the "About us" button will have a huge click rate because your product is actually people and you need to sell a good company :)
