Side note: Big shout out to Dru Riley for bringing an amazing newsletter to life.
I was instructed to choose 1 topic for my micro-report.
This report will be used to determine if I'm suitable for the anaylst position or not (I like the title since it means I'm not just 'writer').
I chose 'Daily Podcasts'.
Then I created a master plan:
Outline report based on instruction and previous newsletter issues
Conduct extensive research
Write my first draft
Edit, edit, edit ('cause impressing Dru Riley is my #1 priority)
Edit again 'cause why not? Besides, I'm human
Check if micro-report is according to specifications
Submit application
2 days after, this plan turned out to be a mere skeleton.
Here are other things I did that weren't part of the plan:
I went through all the instructions 3+ times (trust me, there were a lot. Big respect to trends.vc analysts).
I read 20+ trends.vc reports to get the feel of how they're written.
I wrote 3 of these reports by hand to get used to the writing style.
I went through hundreds of podcasts to find out which ones release daily episodes (they're so few😭)
Now, I'm going through hundreds of articles, indiehackers posts, tweets, research papers, videos and even podcasts to find out about the problem, solution, players, opportunities and predictions relating to daily podcasts.
Let's just say I'll be done with my micro report by Thursday.
Or earlier.
Maybe later?
I hope Dru Riley doesn't introduce a deadline - YET🥲
