Tried to nail the value proposition - did I succeed?

I have tried to pinpoint the value proposition of https://notestack.io. I would like to hear from the IH community if I succeeded.

I think I get the idea. It's a platform for sharing technical documents with clients. This makes me assume it's for freelancers/contractors/agencies who need to communicate with their stakeholders who are not technical.

I don't really get how it removes any legwork or confusion, though. What does "syntax highlighted and all" mean? It just sorta feels like a niche-focused dropbox but I don't know how it would be better.

Seems like you're on the right track but just need to be more clear on how it removes confusion!

Also, a design note. I think your landing page would be much more pleasing if you added more whitespace between every section.

Thanks! A lot of work to do on the copy. and totally agree on the extra whitespace!

Hey Kees, graphic designer and development dabbler here. Firstly, I don't know who this product is for when I read your headline and supporting text. I'm not your target audience, so I'm sure that contributes to the problem. I see that the meta title says notes for developers, but the word "developers" doesn't appear on this page even once.

I did a little tweaking to the hero area and rewrote the headline and support text. I could be completely off base, but check it out.

Wow, thanks! This is definitely a good direction!

    Hi Kees.

I can't give a proper feedback because some of the website sections don't work and I can't focus on the content because of that:

    • "TAKE A TEST DRIVE" renders an empty page
    • "Product Tour" doesn't render any images, "public notes" as well
    • sign up form validation is broken.

The idea for me resembles github's Gists section, may be Notion in some sense.

Should all be up and running again now.

Ouch. My bad. I am in the middle of some DNS changes rendering the app-site unreachable.

design can be improved - could be sleeker

Could you expand a bit on that?

Hey, just a heads up that you need to fix your responsive breakpoints. I opened in tablet size and it looked pretty rough. Just a heads up!

As far as the idea, it wasn't 100% clear to me, but I think that I'm not your end-user. Try mapping it out this way:

    1. Feature: What feature did I implement that's unique?
    • Example on a camera: 15 megapixel camera
    1. Benefit: What benefit does this feature give my ideal user?
    • Example: Clear photos with crisp edges
    1. Value: Why does my customer want this?
    • Example: Capture memories of your loved ones perfectly

You want to get down to the value level as much as possible, and I'm not positive that "Enlighten your clients" is the real value. A benefit, more likely.

Best of luck, the product seems to have a great finish to it :)

Thanks for the heads up on the tablet. It is indeed messed up 🙁. Thanks for your 3 step method!

Sure thing! Also, that method I picked up from the book Obviously Awesome, which sounds like it might be exactly the right time for you to read. Check it out! :)
