Trouble being consistent? Let’s launch this accountability group!

“Consistency is key”
— basically every advice ever written

For months, I’ve now been failing miserably at consistently showing up to write a weekly #buildinpublic blog piece for the interwebs. And I’m starting to annoy myself.

Sound familiar?

Let’s join indiehacking forces and launch a group of people rather early in their projects (similar to the cohort of an online course) in which we commit to posting a weekly accountability recap. In this recap, we review whether we met our goals from the previous week and set new ones for the upcoming week.

By doing this in a smaller group we will hopefully build more personal relationships and get more invested in each other’s process compared to sending such updates into the vast public ocean of Twitter.

Since I also don’t know how well this will work when we don’t know each other at first, I think it’s a good idea to approach it as more of an experiment. Meaning we commit to this group for 3 months for a starter. After these 3 months we can do a review on the success and usefulness of it (e.g. by doing a video call together) and decide if some want to continue or if we want to scrap this group altogether.

This does mean you should be genuinely willing to commit to posting this #weeklyrecap update each week (e.g. Monday), for those 3 months. Also you should be willing to engage a bit in that group as otherwise it will be boring.

The plan is to do this using a Twitter community (as everyone hangs out there anyway) and use specific hashtags to differentiate posts. You’d post an #introduction and the #weeklyrecap Tweets, allowing the others get to know your journey a bit better.

Let’s give it a week for everyone to find this post, and then kick off the #weeklyrecaps next Monday, 21 August (people can of course also join later). The 3 months will conclude on 21 November and we can do that joint review then.

So if you're thinking, “Hey this might actually be a good idea and I’m up for the challenge” - jump in here https://twitter.com/i/communities/1689956746620547102, give the rules a quick read, send out your #introduction Tweet and, if you're on fire, also post your first #weeklyrecap in which you set goals for this week.

P.S. Still figuring this out so please comment if you have any thoughts or ideas! Will be much appreciated!
