I've been working on a new way to unsubscribe from emails, all you have to do is forward the emails to us and we do the rest. No need to waste time finding unsubscribe links and filling out forms etc.
I want to try and ensure the automatic unsubscribing works for a wide range of emails before going live. So I'm opening it up as a beta to IH to get some help with testing. Please throw what emails you can at it.
It's free to use for a single email. So If you are reading this and hate unsubscribing from emails, you can sign up at app.stopthat.email
Cheers guys!
I’d be interested in this as a gmail chrome extension I think, but forwarding it to someone makes it feel unsafe to me. Like any personal details in this mails I’d have to be thinking about as well
Thank you for the feedback!
In my head I thought about it the other way round, I saw it as a chrome extension could read anything on every web page under a domain whereas forwarding an email only gives access to that one email.
I also just expected people to forward what they felt safe forwarding and not what they didn't, so it's super helpful to see another point of view.
The privacy thing is actually what encourage me to build the service in the first place. I couldn't find an easy to use service which didn't require access to all of your inbox which was a worry considering things like unroll.me reading and harvesting inbox data (NY Times).
I have tried to cover in our FAQ and the terms etc that we don't store any info about the email except for the very basic info in the headers (To, From, Sent date) but takes quite a bit of faith to trust that.
Do you think it would help if I tried to make it more clear no private data is taken from emails?
