Try BEFORE signing up - Is it a good idea? [HELP!]

Users can try my tool Simple before they sign up. In the beginning, I thought this was an excellent idea - users can try Simple as frictionless as possible!

The tool has had some 1000's of visits and 143 sign-ups. I'm pretty happy with 143 sign-ups since you can try the tool before signing up.

So most of those 143 sign-ups turned in to users, right? No, unfortunately only ~5 use my tool on a daily basis. 90% of all sign-ups never visit Simple again. I find these statics weird - why would you try it first and then sign up and never come back?

Why don't my leads convert to users?😭

Sidenote: Many of the leads are from Google Ads and they go directly to Simple to this link (the tool, not the website) and the landing page is not good there. I did this to reduce friction.
