A couple days ago, a buyer emailed me. Not a lovely email, rather a USEFUL email.
They sent a detailed description, with screenshots. A step by step showcase of what they had to do to buy my product: Better Sheets
If you go there now, you won't have the same flow as them.
Because I fixed it.
They pointed out: It takes 4 clicks for someone to begin entering their CC details. This, is someone who wants to buy the product.
Emailed Gumroad support and asked: "How do I fix this?"
Sent along a loom video showing all the steps.
They sent me back 4 steps to fix it.
I had to change a setting in the gumroad embed. To single product.
Everything I'm doing on @BetterSheets is to improve your experience in Google Sheets. I'll do my best to make the buying process better. And the customer experience better too.

Don't make any sheets. Make Better Sheets.
Awesome post
Hi Andrew, first thing, I absolutely love the way you've marketed and executed better sheets.
I've sent it to many of my friends mentioning specifically how fantastically it's executed.
Second, why don't you give our product a shot - simplefunnel.io
It solves exactly this problem, only if you're not happy with gumroad, i think you'll love it.
Mainly because we're solving exactly for this and nothing else, "to let you collect payments on your site" so we make sure we get this right.
Also our pricing has been more lucrative to most users.
Interesting. What kind of users do you have already? I see you like green as well!
A few notes about your site/product:
Gumroad is technically free and less expensive. Free and takes a percent. so I can take a chance, list and see what happens. I'm not on the hook. But if I use yours, at least I think.... I am charge 14.99 once I start making money.
I'd try to at least show tiers, because that's what potential customers are used to.
And not just say "free until you're ready..." I get it, you say free a few times. but I still see that big green $14.99 a month. and do the math in my head: $179.88 a year.
I launched another product on gumroad late last year. Sold exactly 0, yes ZERO, copies. I kept trying and still do. if I had launched with you, I'd owe $90 by now.
Oh and it's confusing that the button for pricing at the bottom of your page goes to an email.
Haha brutal, I love it.
That is actually very sound feedback, we have a few users now but they were looking to move to another solution and already had a valid product they knew would sell and $15 would break even very quickly.
but I might just open up to a percentage based model which means we win if you win and I do feel it's more scalable.
Ah yes, the footer, it'll be fixed in the next release.
Appreciate it Andrew! I'll hit you up if we decide to launch a percentage based tier.
Before I launched Hicopy.co I probably tested the payment process from landing page to my account, even the free version about a dozen times, just to make sure. Haha. Found tweaks, improvements, takeaways every time until it became fluid.
Very good advice. You should always put yourself in the customers shoes with everything. Nice post 🤙🏼
Someone needs to offer this as a service. I keep hoping one of my tester friends will take my hints/suggestions/etc. Nothing yet! :)
Isn't there testing done with python scripts?
All sorts of testing can be done with all kinds of scripts, it's not really well suited for one off situations like this.
Have you heard of usertesting.com? Might help you here
My previous background was in software testing, so I'm kind of thinking more 'proper' testing where experienced testers go hunting for real problems/bugs.
Good advice, It's good to listen to the customer be more empathatic and suggest what s best for her /him
The Customer is always right.
Great advice.
Taking it a step further, it's a good idea to do regular usability testing. Sit next to a customer (virtually works too) as they buy/onboard/use your product periodically. It's amazing how much you can learn by watching customers try to buy/use your product/website.
Good books on this are "Don't Make Me Think" and "Rocket Surgery Made Easy" by Steve Krug.
yes. e2e... end to end testing. you sound like a developer!

I lost a month of new subs because I changed something on my website and my newsletter form broke. :(
