Trying something I've never tried: launching with a queue π¨βπ©βπ§βπ§ Wish me luck! Anyone else did this before?

How's this different from the following choices?
Choice 1:
Choice 2:
Choice 1: build vs buy - depends if your hourly rate makes it make sense
Choice 2:
β’ Notion subdomain gives you a homepage, but then it's all https://chddaniel.notion.site/page-2d5cc08f22fa421bb80a781f090. Ours is you.simple.ink and then you.simple.ink/seo
β’ Works with free Notion, so take those $$$ and put them here β but also stick to free if you want
β’ We'll go deeper than Notion's interests are
I see your point on the second choice.
On the first choice, I did the experiment and it looks like the preview is not the same as the exported version. So, those who want perfection have to export multiple times to see how it actually feels like. :)
Question: can notion sites show buttons with a href?
RE 2 - yep!
Question: do you/folks think it would be wrong/antithetical to #buildinpublic to βprimeβ these queue numbers? Similar to how checkbooks start at check #1001 or whatever.
I dig your engagement with your twitter audience.
Site looks great! Thereβs maybe a typo in your mobile first section: βAll websites are fully responsible.β - did you mean responsive?
Congrats!
I didn't get that - mind explaining? Would love to answer
Thanks for noticing the typo! Just fixed it thanks to you, Casey 𧑠And thanks for the kind words
So I signed it up and it said βthanks, youβre position #39 in the queue! Refer friends to move up!β
Would it be wrong to start that number at 100 or 1000? So my number would have been #139 or #1039?
Check books in the US do this because Businesses wouldnβt accept a check numbered #4 as it looks like one of your first few checks ever written - so banks issue your first checkbook starting at #1000. Now everyone knows they do this (and donβt really use checks any more, but you get idea).
Ohh I get it now. You're thinking of doing that, right?
I don't think it should matter that much. So what if I'm your user and instead of thinking I'm #1,039 I'm actually #39? Does that change my experience and/or the utility I'm getting out of your product?
I get that it's cool to "call out" people or to dunk on them on social media but... just wait 2 weeks and everyone forgets about you β IF it even gets there. This doesn't seem to me like flammable material for a callout anyway
Coming back, all I care about as a user (in the grand scheme of things) is the utility I'm getting out of it β yes, even if it's hey.com and it's mostly brand
Don't stress over that man. And if it ever gets bad, do the 2 weeks wait time I've mentioned. 95% of the stuff that feels like it's important is not actually important. Spotting the 5% is key
And I'm struggling with this as well btw, still getting better at it. But hey... it's just the 5% that matters
UPDATE: 1st person referred π³ π³ https://twitter.com/chddaniel/status/1461039314939392007
Would be curious to see if anyone's ever done this: a queue leaderboard, where
β’ People join the queue
β’ People invite friends to get to top of the queue
β’ We invite the top 10-30 referrers every week
I've never done this before, gonna document this on my Twitter!
I'm pretty sure somebody must have done this, if you search "referral code waitlist" you find a few services, e.g. referlist. Not sure anybody documented it publicly, though.
But another question. What happens to the early adopters who bought a yearly plan pre-order on gumroad (like me)? Can they sign up now? And, wouldn't you want to deactivate the gumroad pre-order page now?
Expect an email in the following days! You'll get early access as well. Thanks so much for being a pre-orderer!
Yep, Gumroad page is deactivated.
