Trying to reinvent a proven niche: Live Chat Widget

I have lately been building a whatsApp chat widget for Squarespace platform. Although there is an existing product which offers a similar solution but it's a fairly complex solution for a simple reason they offer multiple widgets for multiple platforms.

Vertically Slicing A Big SaaS 🎂 🔪 🍰

I decided to build a more niche product offering so decided to vertically slice their SaaS product. What do I mean by saying vertical slicing? I meant the product isn't incomplete compared to my competitor but rather its aims to targets a much smaller audience. Basically, you still get to enjoy every layer of the cake.

So Just Replicating The Proven?

Initially, when I rolled out the first prototype I kinda felt good. I mean why not? the product was much cleaner and focused compared to my competitor.

But I dislike one fact that current chat widgets just let customers start a conversation with business owners without giving any context of the query. So decided to build a new feature in my product to first let customers specify the type of query they have so business owners can in advance prioritise whom to assist and what to assist.

I ensured to enable or disable this feature with a simple switch.
