Trying to stand out as a TASK MANAGER

Hey IH friends!

http://mytaskhero.com/

How do you suggest we showcase more how our task manager works? Maybe adding more videos/gifs? Thanks in advance!

    Heya Alvaro,

I roughly understand how it works, however, my main question is "How is it better than any other task manager out there?"

I really liked this Landing page template I saw yesterday: https://uselander.xyz/index.html, specifically, the format, which goes:

    • main benefit
    • problem you solve (I don't see this on your landing page)
    • Main feature (focus on one task at a time, I think?)
    • Combat top objection
      etc.

    Hopefully this helps :)

I am also looking for feedback on my landing page - hopefully you wouldn't mind taking a quick look? https://sites.google.com/view/docata/case-study

    Cheers

      Hey Sam,

Thanks for the feedback! I think you're right: because there are so many task managers, people do want to know how our product is different.

I checked out your landing page. I think it conveys pretty well what Docata is. It stood out to me that there was no visible call to action on the viewport (eg, I had to scroll to see the "SIGN UP FOR THE EARLY RELEASE" button). Is that intentional?

I really like the color template you chose. However, I tend to ignore illustrations that seem to be part of a library. It makes me feel that the landing page I'm looking at might be vaporware-y ; )

Hope my feedback helps! Best of luck,

      Alvaro

        Heya Alvaro -

Yeah - I think I've got about as far as I can with Google sites - time to upgrade!

Do you know anywhere to get better (but ideally still free illustrations?)

        Cheers

    Hi Alvaro,

I think that current videos and GIFs are doing a great job (here's what I saw: Hero = 3 tools in 1: helps focus on your current task + shows what needs to be done today (and creates lists) + tracks where the time went. I use Trello + Clockify + calendar to block out time, so definitely can see the value of Hero based on the GIFs).

I agree that there are ways to strengthen your argument / help your LP visitors see, not guess, your differentiators, especially in the hero section.

For example: "Fastest task manager" - this is a solid point (I spend at least an hour, if not more, tracking my time usage and mapping out my to-dos for every week) - how can you make it more specific + desirable? - for example, "Save X hours a week" / "Create a new to-do in less than 10 seconds".

Of course, Hero does other awesome things, so I'd start by running customer interviews or a survey to see what your existing users love the most about Hero to lead with that (also, collect testimonials and VoC to use in the copy).

Since you're running personal onboarding sessions, you can also ask your new users either what they hope to achieve with Hero (value prop) or what led them to decide to sign up (biggest pain point) during those calls.

    Hope this helps :)

      Hi Ekaterina,

      Your response was incredibly helpful!

We are moving away from the "Fastest task manager" copy because few users are complimenting Hero for its speed. I think our current speed is no deal-breaker/deal-maker. Instead, we changed the copy to "No more task-juggling" (exact words a user used to compliment Hero!). What do you think?

I followed your advice and asked a few onboardees today questions along the following line: "what do you wish to get from trying out Hero".

I was trying to gauge the value prop they are seeking. For some people, the question seemed a bit "too much" to come up with an answer right away. I've seen other products ask this question, but they usually give options ;) (as in a multiple choice).

I will probably try a different question that also gauges value prop. If one comes to mind, please share!

      Thanks again,

      Alvaro

        Hi Alvaro, that's super interesting!

In that case, I'd try asking what led them to sign up for Hero (they might not be clear on what they want beyond "I want to be more productive," but I bet they'll be able to describe their pain points - at great length) :)

And the more feedback you collect, the more VoC data you gather, and the better you can see the trends. Love "No more task juggling" - but curious if this is going to turn out to be THE value prop :)

        Take care,
        Ekaterina

          Hi Ekaterina!

Thanks for the insight! We've got you scheduled for your onboarding. Looking forward :)

          Best,
          Alvaro

I totally agree with you that many task managers fail to force users to prioritise what's most important to them in that moment. I think your landing page could be much better if you first articulated the problem clearly, perhaps showing iOS tasks v. Google keep v. your plugin. Given your product is a chrome plugin and the target audience is mostly desktop I think you could have a static toolbar/ banner close to the top of the page with the CTA and the chrome store logo for extra trust. You could even potentially use the hero area to point at the users, browser where the plugins would usually sit and say something like: "a todo manger that's always with you" Other than that I would also try and think about branding a little more I think the colours, type etc ... are just too similar to most other stuff out there. Having a font with more character and a distinct memorable colour would really help.

Thank you very much for the insights!

Hi Alvaro, I requested access and replied to the onboarding e-mail. I'd like to see how you present the tool and what the potential differentiators are, let me know if you'd like to have a short call for this. Perhaps I can help a bit with the direction / targeting.

Nice product, nice minimal design @asosa16

I'd like to see immediately what makes your product better than other productivity tools. You should emphasize more it's a Chrome integration, easy to install, and start.

I'm working on a new side project on Notion, keen to hear your feedback :)
