Tube Hunt - Building a better YouTube experience
Hi all,
YouTube is the second most visited site in the world. It certainly is a great platform for entertainment and educational purposes. However, its recommendation algorithm renders the experience vexing. Issues range from irrelevant content to getting us addicted to the platform to creating echo chambers that reinforce our biases.
In light of this, I set out to create Tube Hunt, mirroring Product Hunt, letting a community ‘hunt’ YouTube channels and build on top of it a recommendation engine. Eventually creating a customisable Chrome extension that injects content from these YouTube channels onto your YouTube page.
This newsletter is the MVP of this platform, to test whether people are indeed interested in discovering new YouTube channels in different categories. Join me on this journey as I send out YouTube channel recommendations broken down by categories each week. Any feedback from you is highly valuable to creating a more diverse and vibrant YouTube platform!
