Turned a Game Frustration Into a solving Tool: Block Blast Solver

I recently launched Block Blast Solver, a small web-based tool that helps players figure out the best move when they get stuck in the game. It’s live and fully functional where user can simply upload a screenshot of their board or enter the layout manually to get suggested placements.

Block Blast is a popular puzzle game available on app store enjoyed by millions of users worldwide. Like many players, I kept losing good runs because the board suddenly became impossible to read, that frustration alone made me wonder if a tool could analyze the board and help find the best moves.

The tricky part while building it was screenshot detection. Different phones, resolutions, board themes, cropping styles made it hard to reliably read the board. After experimenting with simpler image-processing approaches, switched to a YOLO-based detection model which made the recognition much more consistent and accurate.

Finally, the Block Blast Solver analyzes the board and suggests moves that help players improve their strategy, suggest optimal placements to keep their game alive. Happy to hear feedback from other builders or anyone who has worked on game solvers or similar tools.

This is a really impressive take on puzzle solving especially the screenshot detection part. Being able to read the board directly instead of relying on manual input makes the whole experience much smoother and more practical for real gameplay. It feels like a smart blend of computer vision and strategy and it could genuinely change how people approach solving block blast or similar puzzles.
