Over the past one month I’ve started working on my personal Twitter following and got really inspired by the journey of some Indie Hackers who multiplied their follower base by 10x in 6 months or so.
When I studied a few of them, I found a pattern. Their journey is not a smooth curve or line. It’s more of a terrain with steep hill slopes as shown in the image.
At every rise, there is a crucial milestone or viral tweet. If you take these rising points and start connecting the dots a story emerges.
By replicating a similar story with facts from your own life, a narrative can be built for your own personal journey and presenting it in a sequential manner will get us genuine followers unlike follow-for-follow or other such tactics.
Here's my post describing this Timeline Hacking method with data
If I start doing it on scale it can become a book or newsletter. Let me know if you think this can be something valuable to you in the comments.
The twitter link in your bio is broken :(
Thanks! Just fixed it
That's the slope of almost every Google analytics as well. It's never linear but with bumps which cause a small (almost permanent) increase.
In Google Analytics if the curve goes up, it inevitably comes down in few days. In Twitter your follower gains are permanent as long as you post consistently. So curves can't be exactly the same in long term (like a few months).
GA and Twitter are measuring very different things.
This will most certainly be valuable. Which influencers will you include?
I'm planning to start with 5 Indie Hackers but I'm open to suggestions. The more influencers we cover, the better understanding we can develop about the follower trend.
I'll be interested in such data points
Thanks! Please email me to get the first cut version of follower analysis that I have right now. I'll be looking for your feedback to improve this analysis.
