Finally, I have come up with what I feel are two solid ideas that I need to move forward with.
The good/bad thing is I currently have a client site to build first, the bad of this is it swallows my spare time as the client site is a side project from my day job. The good is that I am going to utilise the same technology that my products will be built upon and built in a way that I can microservice certain features/components that I can use on any site in the future.
Question is, do I still try to allocate a few hours on my own project at the same time as the full time job as a Tech Lead, the side project for a client and being a father of two (soon to be three)
I think the right advice is impossible in this situation. And you are the only one who can weight it right.
If you can develop your own product and at the same time solve some client's problems - that is the treasure. Despite of it is so time-consuming.
From another side you need time for your kids and family.
You can choose both and become more effective guy like cartoon hero.
Or choose one of them. ;)
