I'm thinking about how to redesign the landing page for https://intray.eu.
Many have pointed out that I should, and I would like to but I am trying to figure out how exactly, right now.
Someone pointed out that, because my product is developer friendly (it is built around a public API, is open-source, has a CLI), that I should market it to developers.
I actually think that not just developers could be users, but that they do deserve custom explanation.
However, I'm worried that this will become tepid-tea marketing.
What do you think?
TL;DR. Is having two seperate landing pages for different audiences a bad idea?
Hi Tom,
You can create a landing page with two sections to it. Each section will be a different landing pages for each parties; one for developers, another for other users. This would let your visitors decide which section is suitable for them to proceed further.
Absolutely not a bad idea.
In fact, it's what you SHOULD do.
One landing page should serve one type of reader and one goal.
Think about it. Two separate audiences have different types of fears, motivations, and needs. You put those two together on one page and you're less likely to convert either audience.
It's much better idea to have different landing pages for different audiences. If you are planning to advertise it, it can only increase your conversion rates and improve ads ranks and positions. Also, if you want to create long-term effect with SEO positions, it's good if you have separate keywords for separate audience and better conversions rates.
Previously, when we were running a growth hacking agency, we did 20 different landing pages (for successful startups) that targeted different audiences for different keywords and constantly a/b tested them. So, basically, if you want to test your messages, it's better to do it it with different pages and it shouldn't be a big effort to create them.
