Ukraine devs: are you impacted?
Here in the US there is complete hysteria over Russia and it’s tough for us to understand the situation.
I don’t want to necessarily get into the politics of the moment, but how is the conflict impacting your development or software career, if at all.
I, personally, think the current conflict is a result of Obama’s weak position on Crimea years ago.
Now it seems Putin is here to humiliate Biden and make a push for the eastern part of Ukraine - and he must suspect that the US will do nothing, again.
If your a developer from Ukraine, I assume there are lots of EU and US countries that are contracting your labor as your country seems to have excellent talent.
If I was to guess, I’d say that US companies haven’t done enough to check in on you. But what do I know.
Tell me where I’m wrong, tell me where I may be right. I’m open to all opinions here.
Ukrainian dev here. We are used to our governments lying to us on a constant basis. So the current hysteria is a non-event. This isn't unique to Ukraine, even in the US, there was the "blue dress" and "I had no sexual relations with that woman", Iraqi WMDs, Syrian gas attacks, Russiagate, and countless others.
So no reason to read to much into this latest government garbage. Keep investing in yourself and sh1t will work itself out.

gotcha, sounds like business as usual then over there? Do other Ukrainians feel the way you do, or do you see other people on heightened alert? It's not everyday I get to hear from someone like yourself who actually in the country.
I have lots of people actually in the country. The men (IT included) are now fighting on the front of war. :( It is not everywhere, but in hot zones is is madness. I was asking them if they need my help with connecting them for freelance jobs with Western clients. But they now entirely focused on fighting for peace.
