Uncomfortable = Learning

    "The best thing that can happen to a human being is to find a problem, to fall in love with that problem, and to live trying to solve that problem, unless another problem even more lovable appears." —Karl Popper

      exactly. this is how you find "work" that'll last you a lifetime.

    Having taken yin yoga classes for a while now I think there's a fine distinction to make between discomfort and pain. Discomfort is not necessarily bad — maybe it's due to inexperience and means that growth is happening. But pain is different — our culture has a bad habit of encouraging people to "push" through pain but I think there is a lot

    It's a lifetime study to know the difference between discomfort and pain — when it's healthy and when it's not.

      i like this analogy.

    That was a good read, John. I literally have a note made with a heading line which says,

    "Fear being in the same spot, Do the uncomfortable".

      The real question: is that blood on your notes?

      (Also, very relevant to me right now, I'm feeling uncomfortable in a new work environment).

        i think it is. i may have gotten a bloody nose.

        new job is so cool. congrats on that! i'm sure it's a very good uncomfortableness.

    Excellent post John. It's so true. Learning new things is "very" uncomfortable. Implementing is even worse. However, after some time, you're almost always thankful that you put yourself through it.

    Social media is a major distraction. I tend to ignore everything when I'm in the product zone.

      well, don't forget to engage and build community!! you can do that while you build... in fact, i suggest doing at least 50% of your time to it.
