Unethical PH hunters can claim your work?

I've experienced the exact same thing a few hours ago, so I sent PH an email asking them if I can get a chance to post an updated version of my own product, hope I can get a positive response.
Yep, somebody else had the same thing happen to them a few days ago. Let me know how it plays out for you.
It's a bit unfortunate that product hunt has become less of "hunt for and add cool products you come across" to more so a "launch my product to the world" website. I like the hunting aspect of it - gamifies it a bit. Maybe PH needs to pivot towards the seemingly more common usage?
I think the hunting aspect is great, but where do we draw the line? If you're spending your time creating a logo and downloading images of a product from their social accounts I think it wouldn't be too much effort to give them a heads up. Maybe mark them as makers or something... ? I mean there's a whole project setup process there, it's not like you're just sharing a link with your friends. Idk just my 2 cents

PH should really verify the owner of the domain is really the maker him/herself. Otherwise, everyone can submit on behalf of the maker. It sounds really sucks.
Honestly, just resubmit it and enjoy the extra views.
My exact thoughts as well, but it's a bit iffy if you want to be in line with PH terms. You can create another domain that redirects, or maybe use a URL shortener. But yeh, it's a workaround and it's not really in line with their terms.
Does it seem like there are bot accounts on PH? Maybe there always was and I just didn't notice?

People hunt products that are not their own on PH all the time.
You can just make a new version, make a different landing page or URL and submit again.
If someone took the time to hunt your work seems like a good thing.
If they claimed to be the maker, email PH with proof and they will fix it.
I just read somebody complaining about this same issue a few days ago. PH refused to remove the post.
Maybe they can chip in with their perspective.
I remember I read this exact thing happening to somebody on IH.
It happened to my wife too, but it got sorted out. How did the other case play out?
