Unhappy with habit / productivity apps?

Hey everyone,

As a person who highly values time and the formation of positive habits, I constantly attempt to find ways to make a habit / routine stick with the help of technology. However, not every tool seem to help.

In your experience, what are some problems with the current apps or tools?

Thanks!

There really needs to be a habit tracker that makes using the habit tracker the first habit. If you could pull that off....$$$$$$ πŸ™ƒ

      I totally agree πŸ˜‚
Any specific features of productivity apps that you really loved / hated?

Yeah, and I don't really know how to describe it.

Ok, so when you're watching a really good movie, like the best movie you've ever seen, and the actors/actresses are phenomenal. So much so, that you can't really tell that they are acting. Do you know what I mean? You can really tell when someone is acting when it's bad acting, right? So...

I think a productivity app that gets out of its own way would be really useful. One that you almost don't know is there. A sort of 'transparent tool'.

Abstract, I know, but does that make sense at all?

It makes perfect sense, thanks for your amazing explanation. It definitely seems like such tool needs a lot of thought and experimentation to achieve.

Have you encountered anything half as close to what you have mentioned?

No, not at all. Not even remotely close. I end up not using any of them and return to organic/analog methods.

I guess there aren't problems with the apps and technology per se. In my experience, for something like habit building analog tools have worked best, at the initial phase at least (and I have thoughts on why). I know others have had success with apps as well (ironically I am building very simple app for my personal use...and which eventually share with others). I wrote more about my process here https://www.indiehackers.com/post/how-i-build-new-habits-4c8effc4d5

      Thanks for the post!

Are you currently planning to transfer the benefits of analog tools into digital?
