Every week I see posts like:
"Our conversion is terrible. We're planning a full redesign for Q3."
And every time I think: you probably don't need that.
Here's what I've found doing conversion audits for SaaS products: 90% of conversion problems come from a small set of fixable issues that have nothing to do with how the product looks:
→ The value proposition is unclear
→ The primary CTA is competing with 3 other CTAs
→ The onboarding has one step that loses 60% of users
→ Mobile layout is broken in one specific way
→ There are no trust signals above the fold
None of these require a redesign. All of them can be fixed in an afternoon.
THE REDESIGN TRAP:
A full redesign takes 3–6 months, costs $20–50k if you hire an agency, and resets all your existing conversion data. And if the underlying problems are copy, hierarchy, and trust, you'll launch the new design with the same conversion rate and a much lighter bank account.
WHAT ACTUALLY WORKS:
1. Identify the specific problem (not "low conversion" but "users are dropping off at step 3 of onboarding")
2. Make one targeted change
3. Measure
4. Repeat
The hardest part is step 1, because you're too close to your own product to see it clearly.
That's the only thing a fresh set of expert eyes does that you genuinely can't do yourself.

Curious — have you ever done a full redesign that actually moved the conversion needle? Or did you end up back at the same problems with a prettier wrapper?
