Hey Indie Hackers! 👋
A few weeks ago, I shared GuideMe here — an AI
travel companion for Arabic speakers.
I was nervous. It was my first real launch as a
solo developer (I'm actually a doctor by day).
What happened next blew my mind. 💙
Your comments, critiques, questions, and
encouragement shaped this product in ways I didn't
expect.
Today, I want to share:

🗣 WHAT YOU TOLD ME:
Some of your feedback hit hard but was exactly
what I needed:
• "Your ads promise 'audio tours' but it's just
text-to-speech. That's misleading."
• "The English version has a 3-second engagement
time. Something is seriously wrong."
• "Why are you targeting 8 countries when your
market is really 2?"
• "The Halal/Mosque feature is a killer
differentiator. Why is it buried?"
• "Your landing page doesn't show what makes
you different from Booking in 3 seconds."
Some of you spent 10+ minutes writing detailed
critiques. I read every single one. 🙏

🔧 WHAT I CHANGED:
Based on your feedback, I:
✅ Rewrote all ad copy to match reality honestly
- Removed misleading "voice tours" language
- Focused on real features (AI chat, tools)
✅ Narrowed targeting from 8 countries to 2
- Egypt + Saudi Arabia only
- Better ROI, clearer positioning
✅ Added Arabic-specific sitelinks
- "Ask your AI guide"
- "Plan your trip today"
- "Smart travel tools"
✅ Highlighted the Halal/Mosque feature
- Moving it from buried to prominent
✅ Started measuring what matters:
- Engagement time > CTR
- Returning users > new users
- Deep interactions > clicks

📊 THE RESULTS (still early):
• Engagement is slowly improving
• Quality of users > quantity of clicks
• Clearer product-market fit in Egypt/Saudi
• More honest marketing = more sustainable growth
Still a long way to go, but I feel I'm on the
right path now.
