Uptime web/api monitoring with PC/MacOS app

For many years I have been using applications to monitor websites and API I use on a daily basis. Recently I started to wonder why most of them do not have a simple PC/MacOS application. I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a cool solution for several reasons:

1. faster notifications during work, you can immediately see that something is wrong
2. without opening the website you could manage everything you want to monitor.

The question to you:

1. What do you think about PC/MacOS application for such a service?
2. Would such a PC/MacOS application be a sufficient reason for you to change the service you are using or would you prefer such an application to allow you to add your account from the service you are using now?
