Using GIF's as Facebook Ads to get £0.80 Customer Conversions 😬

Right guy's and gal's

Don't know how many times this has been spoken about before, but here goes...

Started using Facebook ads the other day, and decided the main video would simply be a GIF. A cute one though... a cat furiously typing on a keyboard, check it out here:

I'm getting link clicks of 7-8p and a conversion rate of around 12%, so around 80p per a user free sign up, which from my naive perspective isn't too bad...

Wondering what you guys thought of the ad as a whole and what you thought about using GIF's?

Usually traffic campaigns suck and I always recommend using the conversion objective.
This is a good example of why you should always test everything 🙂

Can you elaborate on the traffic vs conversion objective? I am currently planning my first campaign and I am not sure what to use. If it is traffic I would still be measuring the conversions through utm and GA tracking. So where is really there difference?

The difference is that the algorithm will show your ad to users who tend to browse vs buy, so if you want to get sales the conversion objective usually performs better.

great stuff here man, do I set up conversion tracking via a pixel?

Wow - good to know. Thanks!

How are you finding Facebook ads for B2B ? Have you tried any other platforms? I've never really tried facebook for B2B but would be interested to see how it compares to other platforms you've tried

I've only ever used FB sorry, may start with google ads soon though

Definitely worth exploring. What is the product though? CPA would largely depend on that.

software product for repurposing content - not sure of the benchmark figures for this sector

Great idea! Will definitely be testing this out.

Also, just noticed you're from Birmingham, me too 👋 let's connect.

Im from one of little towns on the outskirt to be honest with you...

Dudley area if you've ever heard of it? Wbu?

      1. 1

        haha, that's hilarious, I'm from WV 🤫

        1. 1

oooooo used to work in that area a few years ago

how is your business coming along?

I like the GIF, it makes it less like an advertisement. The only thing that doesn't appeal to me is the 99.999% growth percentage. It's not something you can guarantee I'd say...

I know, I'm going to change it

Makes it feel cheesy and not real, but It seriously could do that tbh with the current model I have in mind

The best ad is the one that creates cost effective conversions for your product.

When you first get started, free signups or some other top of funnel metric is fine. You won’t be seeing paid conversions frequently enough to assess value at this point I guess?

As you get more conversions (say 50 in a week — that’s finger in the air stuff you’ll know what’s meaningful), move the conversion event further down the funnel.

At that point, you’ll want to make sure you’re measuring the value of those customers somehow: either by monetary or some other arbitrary value to you.

    1. 1

thank you very much for your feedback

      much appreciated!

Yeah it's only for free signups so I can't assess value like you said, the reasons I am doing free sign ups is because I need beta users for feedback and increase growth via word of mouth/social proof

Do you think I should decrease the value of the signup?/make the sign up monetised?

      1. 2

If you’re looking for validation, then I would definitely consider running for a small time, turning off ads, analysing your product’s performance for customers, making changes and then testing again.

At some point, you need people to pay you. Whether that’s your customers or someone else, doesn’t really matter.

The actions you take should align to the larger goal you’re trying to achieve.

One question though: have you set up conversion tracking or are you relying on FB telling you what they’ve sent?

        1. 1

          Yeah completely agree.

Sadly no I'm depending 100% on FB for tracking and such.

Problem is that I'm also sending organic traffic via Quora and IH, so I'm not sure if its FB that's converting or organic traffic

Don't think im near the getting paid stages yet though sadly haha

It looks great & your copy is intriguing too.

    1. 1

thank you very much, taken a lot of time to get that copy just right, and im still adjusting all the time

Well how does spend compare to customer LTV?

    What ad objective are using?

I have previously found with some clients that engagement objectives with CTAs included can perform well.

    1. 1

it's for a free sign up to be beta users on my software when it launches, so there is no LTV right now as there's no software haha

      lowest cost - traffic

"I have previously found with some clients that engagement objectives with CTAs included can perform well." - can you go into more detail please?

  9. 2

Just doubled my spend on it too... tell me quick if this is a bad idea before I blow my full budget! 😂😂😂
