Using GIPHY.com For Free Marketing

Hey everyone, wanted to share a max turbo way to get free brand recognition and advertising by simply making some gifs.

Here is what you need to do:

Create 5 gifs that would pertain to your market. Make sure to include your website or brand name.

Upload those gifs to giphy.com and tag them with tags people in your market would be searching for.

Apply for a giphy business account. Your GIFS will only be put into the IG and FB DB if your account is a business account

Once your account is approved your gifs will be entered into FB and IG.

This has worked amazing for one of my online stores and will be applying this to my other businesses as well. My account has had over 2.2 million gif views so far within 45 days.

One of the best tactic I've heard in a long time.

    Why five gifs?

    1. 3

Giphy requires 5 before you can apply to be a business account

  2. 4

That's cool! How do the gifs benefit you? Is you logo in it? Can you show an example?

    1. 3

Hi Rosie!! I drop the URL on the gif.

So from the gifs I've had people email asking for more they end up buying items.

I've noticed more organic traffic increase since the day I uploaded these.

I've gotten two major influencers to post product (600k IG followers total) in exchange for making a gif. They found us from our gif on IG.

Also this is great for people getting to know the brand. The more they see it from different people they follow, the more brand trust you build.

I put this method into the 'do things that don't scale' folder.

      Some examples:

That's exactly the right attitude - 'do things that don't scale' - and I dig it! I'm preparing a stunt, and you just gave me an idea I can add onto my promotions strategy.

        This is gonna be fun!
        Thanks!

It looks like your gifs have transparent backgrounds.
I know it's not necessary, but it helps especially on Instagram, yes?

        1. 1

@jikajika yep, please make sure they are transparent.

          Please share any results :)

          1. 1

            Thanks and sure!

      2. 2

Awesome, I had no idea you could link a gif on giphy!

        1. 2

Sure can my friend! Make sure you have a GIPHY business account

  3. 4

You come up with the craziest stuff, congrats dude!

  4. 3

Dude I'm trying everything right now to do promotion - I literally didn't even finish reading your title and was like, "Ok I'm trying this". I'll report back.

    1. 2

Ok @Butvidas, @darkplaceguy, and all, I successfully applied to the business account.

I made 5 gifs that were branded and involving my topic (RSVP's). Here the link to the giphy account I made, and the gifs: https://giphy.com/channel/rsvpkeeper.

I used the awesome mac giphy app: https://giphy.com/apps/giphycapture - which made it really easy to capture my content, and then there was a built-in way to add text, which I took advantage of.

It said they'll review my application and get back to me. Gifs are fun and I'll continue to make funny-type gifs in the future to promote the brand - it's a way to be funny and casual but still do some advertisements.

Thanks @Butvidas for the push in this direction.

      waiting for an update!

    3. 1

      Let me know brother

  5. 3

That's an awesome idea, how much does Giphy charge for a business account?

  6. 2

Well, this is quite interesting. What are you hashtags are you tagging them with?

    1. 3

Ohh i see on Giphy! Interesting!

Think this could be a good example for my marketing site if you're up for it?

      1. 4

I'm up for anything that isn't prison illegal.

      2. 2

Do you have any idea how the fb / ig algorithm works?
This is super interesting the more i dive into this. Bravo!

        1. 1

As far as I know it is based on keyword accuracy and may be based on the image itself. I need to do more gifs to give a 100% answer

        2. 1

THX man, I try to do gritty marketing. Everythingis so saturated that it is time to think out of the box. Which is why I'm also trying to do a different type of marketing YT channel. just havent had much time to do more videos:

          https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1uf8HVXs-W3iMS6eleTjNw

      3. 1

Hey Harry, yea it is really just depending on your market. I found you want to think more of what people on FB and IG would use them for and then do a keyword listed based on that.

        1. 2

awesome. I'll be in touch later on.

        2. 1

Haha! Nice channel. I watched your first video when you launched it back in the day.

Just been looking into this more. Lots of brands are doing it. Will be sure to mention you on the article.

  7. 1

Great idea! Are you able to track your traffic/conversions through this?

    1. 1

Giphy doesn't have a tracker yet as I dont think they would have a way to do so since the gifs are not something clickable. We have seen organics increase, social growth has been accelerating and been getting more DMs for collabs or requests.

For sure a method that falls into the scaling the unscalable folder.

  8. 1

I've been doing it for a while with some of my brands
If you dont have good images related to your brand then just create funny/cool phrases that people would use in a conversation
