Hi Indie Hackers! I wanted to share a quick story on something cool my team and I built to solve a marketing problem.
In September, we launched Flyyer.io, a SaaS to help users take control of their link previews and improve their organic growth when their pages get shared. It’s a really cool solution to a problem that not a lot of people know they have. In the first few weeks, we got a few passionate users (always a good sign for validation), but still wanted to help raise awareness for this problem.
My background is in enterprise SaaS so I immediately defaulted to writing an ebook and putting together webinars as a lead magnet. Writing the ebook was a huge struggle, the content was pretty dry and boring. Then it hit me, what if I could find an easy way to help potential users see how their link previews look today?
BOOM - this was the inspiration I was looking for! I scrapped the ebook (for now) and got to work building a site where someone can paste in their url then they can see how their pages show up when shared in social media, WhatsApp, etc. Thus, www.linkpreview.io was born. It's been working really well so far and I'm happy with the conversions. Next up, I'm going to add some sort of grade or relative scoring.
I'd love to hear of cool examples of lead magnets you've built to help with growth that are more interesting than an ebook/whitepaper. Would also love any feedback on Flyyer or Link Preview!
I loved the idea and I now use this site. Congrats 👌
I think this would be much more useful to the community if there were metrics behind it. Much like someone could do what you first said — write an ebook — and generate some leads, someone could do what you've now done — create a free tool — and generate some leads, too.
You say, "It's been working really well so far and I'm happy with the conversions." But how is it actually performing vs. other lead magnets you've tried vs. being more interesting?
Hi, I will test it! Could you explain me in 1 sentence, how it can help other marketers?
It allows marketers to automate the work of making amazing link previews that help drive higher CTR.
"amazing link preview" sounds strange for me:)
Haha, it's an oxymoron. But what we've realized is that you can build really cool things when you have tools to optimize the og:image. For example: doing text overlays to an image to help drive a higher CTR.
