UX/UI review of your product?

Hey, I am a professional product designer. Would anyone of you be interested in getting your product reviewed for any UX/UI improvements?

  1. 2

    Sounds great.

Would love a UX/UI review for https://versoly.com/, currently working on a new release with a ton of UX changes. Would be great for you to give it a quick check once it is done.

If you need any help with coding, some marketing and landing pages let me know :)

    1. 1

Sort of unrelated but your landing page’s CTA buttons are stuck together/different sizes on mobile. Just though you should know :)

      1. 1

Thanks for the feedback we recently added that button to test it out, most likely will remove it.

        Fixed :)

    2. 1

Sure, just let me know once it's released and I will have a look.

  2. 1

    Hi Max,

I would love to get feedback on our current landing page. Please let me know what you think
Thanks in advance! I'm also new to IndieHackers so hope I'm doing it right

Hello Max! Check out my site https://sideprojects.net

Its a site my friend and Sakun and I have started for giving reviews for people's products by professionals like yourself.

And if you have time, lets chat over a zoom meeting! My email is [email protected]

    Hi Max!

I will be grateful if you can make a review of my project https://sparkyspot.com/

    1. 1

Nice and clean website, not much to comment on. Really like how you use preload outlines, that's a very nice touch.

      • Have you thought about some default image/icon for the companies without a logo? At the moment it feels a little bit incomplete like it failed to load.

      • The individual card's background colour change on hover is very subtle, almost uncatchable, probably will increase the contrast.

      • Minor thing, but the bottom subscribe form feels a little bit odd where it is now. Maybe because it is aligned to the centre.

Otherwise, good job it looks good!

  5. 1

    Hi Max,
I would love some feedback. Especially on the process users go through to set-up what they want to track.

    https://www.brooklet.app/download

The app is a customizable personal tracking app. We also provide a number of powerful presets that you can use.
    Thanks,
    Jim

    1. 1

      Hey Jim,
I could not pass the sign-up stage, it was complaining about the username, although I've tried different variations. Nevertheless, here are some of my comments based on that screen.

      • On my phone, the input text is white on the white background, 0% readability. I am sure its just a bug and not the design decision.

      • On the sign-up, provide the validation feedback directly above each individual input fields and not below. Much better UX

-It feels a little bit odd that this login/sign-up box is aligned to the top and not centre. Is there a reason for it?

Sorry, that could not test the full version of the app.

      1. 1

Thanks for this info! This explains part of the fall-off.
        What username did you try?

        1. 1

          different ones. test, test123,maksimskarcun ...

          1. 1

Btw, I'm fixing some of these issues right now. Thank you so much!!!

          2. 1

Well, "test" is definitely taken :D

Did you tap the sign up button on the bottom? They arent the same form. If not, then you've highlighted another UX issue.

  6. 1

Hi Max, I would really appreciate some feedback on my mobile app: https://apps.apple.com/tr/app/bloom/id1442014302 It's in Turkish though, please ask me if you need anything translated. Thanks a lot for the help!

    1. 1

      Hey!
It's not easy to give any feedback without understanding whats the app is about. Nevertheless, here are some of the points based on the universal language of design :)

      • I like how you have integrated the user guidance for some of the screens. Good UX!

      • Add a bottom padding to the bottom nav-bar, these days many new smartphones have the upward swipe as a way to get to the home screen so need to accommodate for that.

-Increase the size of the heart icon, at the moment, is hardly tappable.

      • Not sure what the red box means but I didn't expect it to take me outside of the app. If it's an ad, maybe you can use other signifiers e.g. label, to distinguish it from the rest.

Overall, the app feels and looks good. Good job!

  7. 1

Hey Max. Thanks for this amazing opportunity, are you able to review my mobile app?
    Here are the links:

We are developing at this moment the about page, you can see this screenshoot :)

    Thanks :D

    1. 1

Hey, the apple link is not working ;(

      1. 1

Hey, I left a ` in the URL, you can check here https://apps.apple.com/app/id1485458184
        Thanks :)

  8. 1

Hey Max. Would be glad to receive feedback on https://womenhustlers.com
I know there are lot of gaps, but haven't exactly engaged a professional yet :)

    1. 1

      Hey Pritisha!

Your idea is admirable, love it!

      Here some quick action points:

      • There is definitely a room for improvement for the visual hierarchy of the elements within the individual card, as well as the use of the image. I would recommend having a look at other sites and see how they design similar UI elements. For example, check out (https://dribbble.com/shots/6911048-Dashboard-UI-Concept) for font hierarchy and use of the image.

      • Make the whole card clickable, right now you can only see the individual interview by clicking on the text or the image.

      • I would make the active state of the navbar less contrasting. At the moment, it unnecessarily grabs too much of the user's attention. Instead, direct user's eye to something more important.

I think that would be a good starting point. Don't hesitate to get back to me for further, more detailed feedback. Thanks!

  9. 1

    Hi Max,
    thanks for the opportunity.
    https://www.oopspam.com

I was thinking to make separate FAQ as well as Feature pages.

    1. 2

      Hey onar,
      Overall the homepage is good.

      • Remove the "focus" blue outline once clicked on the FAQ question

      • Center alignment of text in FAQ makes text hard to read. As a rule of thumb, try to avoid centre alignment of the large blocks of text.

      • I would either remove or rethink the underline you have used to outline some words in your headlines. It creates an impression of the link which makes me want to click on it and then leaves frustrated once I realise that it is not clickable. If you do want to keep it, try to maybe increase the height of it to make it look more like a highlighter line rather than an underline.

      • I would also possibly choose another typeface. Rounded sans-serifs have a playful look to them, which I don't necessarily associate with anti-spam software.

      Hope that helps!

      1. 1

        Thanks a lot!
        Very much appreciated.
These are going to my to-do list.

  10. 1

Hey Max i would love to 100%. It you could.

    Here it is https://www.colorsandfonts.com

    Thank you so much.

I appreciate this a lot. Let me know if I can help you with anything as an exchange.

Have a great day and thank you again.

    1. 1

      Hey Michael!

Nice product, I definitely would be your target user!

      • Have you thought about having a sidebar instead of the navbar at the top? I think at the moment it's very crammed.

      • Try to be consistent with border-radius. I have noticed that for example colour palettes and gradients individual cards have different border-radius.

      • I would get rid of the explanation section at the top of each section, or at least think about how you can make it smaller. As a user, I would rather see straight away the pallets, gradients... without the need to scroll.

      • Your email input field and button can be bigger, both in terms of width and height.

      • I think you can be also more consistent with the way that a user can copy to clipboard. For example, I can copy an individual colour by clicking on it but can't do the same with the gradient for some reason.

Otherwise, I think its already nice and usable product. Would be happy to provide more detailed feedback if you want me to. Thanks!

      1. 1

        Hey Max,

Thank you for your quick review. Really thankful for that.

        Let me explain:

        Sidebar.
        ---------

        • Actually, I had a sidebar before, but many users wanted to see more palettes on the screen. I am in the process of learning still, I do not know how to do a sidebar that hides and responsive at the same time...

        • I was thinking also to make dropdowns instead but I am afraid for the bounce rate...

        Border-radius.
        -----------------

        • I have an excuse for this...and is because I want them to have their own personality and shape, so as you can see in the landing page they have their own logo, icon,...I do not know if I explain myself.

        Explanation.
        -----------------

        • I do not like the explanation either, I really don't want it there, to be honest, but I had some users saying that they are not understanding how to use it without explanation.

        Subscribe CTA.
        --------------------

        • The reason I haven't make it bigger is that I thought it would be too much in the middle...

        Copy to clipboard buttons.
        ---------------------------------

        • I tell you why, For example, the palettes you can copy the colors individually or get all the five colors by pressing the name next to the image. On the gradients is just one code for the whole thing because is a linear gradient.

It would be nice to get more feedback but Colors and Fonts has budget 0.

I am going to have a look to all you have come up with and I will react to some of the stuff.

Again, thank you so much Max

I would love/value/appreciate UI/UX feedback on the Lakebed.io server app. It's pretty massive and a server app not SaaS so probably easiest is a few screenshots:
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EIzHvoNUUAAOXdN?format=jpg&name=4096x4096
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EEwUJcNUcAAL1SY?format=jpg&name=large
    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EEwUJk_U4AANuGs?format=jpg&name=large

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    1. 1
      • There is definitely some excessing spacing issue on your homepage, try to reduce the padding/margin between different sections. It also seems that images/icons bring very little value to the user, so maybe think about removing them and restructuring your site or thinking of better imagery to support the text.

      • I would also look into the choice of colour and especially when it comes to readability. For example, I don't think black on red is something that is necessarily very easy to read + not sure if it's pleasing for the eye.

      • I don't know if it's only on your screenshot, but it looks like your sidebar only extends to the height of the viewport. If it's not fixed on scroll, I would definitely make it stick on the side.

      • I would remove that chess pattern of blocks in the "Next Steps", it's very odd for the eye to follow that pattern. I would probably stick to the conventional list structure here, possibly more clearly outlining the continuity of each step.

Hope that this helps a little bit!

      1. 1

It helps A LOT, thank you so much for taking the time.

The menu on the left is fixed, just the screenshot that extends beyond the viewport.

        1. 1

Oh also, I fully admit UI/UX is probably my weakest point so I'll be hiring a UI/UX consultant very early on. I'll keep you in mind. Do you have a website, LinkedIn, Five account?

  12. 1

    Hi Max,

Thanks for giving us this opportunity.

I need your help to review the UI/UX of Shotmockr => https://shotmockr.com/editor as well as the home page only.

    1. 1

      Hey jamiuoloyede!

Great idea and it look and works good!
Do you think there is a need for a separate home page? I feel like your product is quite simple and straightforward for the user just to land straight to the editor screen, you could just add a simple explanation of the product at the top.
Have a look at https://www.blobmaker.app/ for the inspiration. The user lands straight away to the actionable screen and it's pretty simple and obvious for the user. I would also think about how you can do that.
Would be happy to provide further suggestions if you want me to.

P.S. might actually use your product for some of my design needs

      1. 1

        Maximal,

        Thank you for the review.

I never thought about the idea of user landing straight on the editor screen. That's a very good point.

We've also got a chrome extension which users can use to easily take screenshot and get directed to the editor without having to look for the image and uploading it.
        https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/shotmockr-design-mockups/elklfjmcadphgcmlfehpnakghohbldne

Yeah, I would be happy to see your suggestions so I can implement them to imporve the app.

  13. 1

If you have a sandbox Slack organisation (or a company where you're comfortable installing a Slack bot) I'd love some feed back on https://www.booklyapp.com :) If you're interested I'll shoot you a mail with the link.

    1. 1

Hey James, sure can send me the link.
Great landing page! I would just think about how I can communicate better the purpose of your product in the hero section of your site. I would definitely replace the brand name and illustrations with a good headline and possibly a screenshot of your product. I think you do a great job at this in the following sections.

      1. 1

Thanks so much for your feedback! You make a valid point that my visitors could churn before investing time in discovering the features. I'll have a think about how I can achieve this better without making it too busy.

  14. 1

Hey, Max. Thank you for offering your help! Appreciate it if you could do a product review of https://oneprofile.info

Would love to be critiqued by a professional product designer so I can improve. Thanks!

    1. 2

Hey, had a look at your product. First of all, great job at putting it all together it, I think its already in good shape. Here are some of the things that immediately caught my eye:

-There is nothing wrong with getting inspiration from other designs, but I will be very careful if your inspiration comes from very popular products. I was immediately put off by the fact how much it resembles Notion's website.

-I tried to build a simple page but it was not immediately obvious how to do it. Have you conducted any user testing? I wonder if that's a common issue.

-I like that you provide the demo examples. Would it make sense to then for the user to edit them for their own needs?

-I would definitely add an ability to close the modal by clicking outside its area, not only the close symbol in the upper right corner of the screen.

-With the dark mode, I would increase the contrast between the background and individual cards.

Hope this helps as a starting point. Would be happy to provide a more detailed and thorough analysis if you want.

      1. 1

Thank you very much for the detailed response, @maximal. I really truly appreciate it.

        • Is it possible for you to share which element or elements exactly that resembled too much to Notion's? I tried to have a mix of Intercom, Dev.to, and Notion color palette as I personally really like the old book background color, and these three products are the closest to my likings. Appreciate it if you could pinpoint which element exactly put you off and what you think should change?

        • I see. I never did a user testing before as there were no complaints from users as of yet. But your opinion as a product designer carries more weight—I'll look into what can I improve on this.

        • You're right about this. I'll make a change to the modal asap.

        • Thank you for your suggestion, I'll do just that. Anyway, was the dark mode useful to you? As in, did you think it makes a difference in de-straining your eyes?

Lastly, I just gave you access to our Brand Pro plan for free so you could maybe play around with the whole suite of features, and whenever possible, I appreciate your feedback! Here's what you can do on a Brand Pro plan: click this link

Thank you so much for your time and expertise, Maximal. I really appreciate it.

        1. 2

Hey, I couldn't remember the password that I've set for the site. Try to go the "forgot the password" route but the email link I've got to reset the password seems to be not working.

          1. 1

Ah, I'm so sorry about that. Apparently, I made some changes on the routing and forgotten to update that specific page. It should be okay now :) Try clicking on the email link again and see if it works. Thanks again, Maximal!

        2. 2

I guess it's mostly the hero section that resembles me a lot of Notion, the style of illustration in combination with the typeface.
Sure, thanks! I will play with it and can send you a short email with further suggestions.
          Hope that sounds okey ;)

          1. 1

I see. I get your point. Thanks for pointing this out, Maximal.

I should be thanking you for your time! Anyway, on a Brand Pro, you now have dark mode available on your profiles, can create unlimited custom boxes, unlimited wishes for your bucket list, and unlimited brand profiles.

As you suggested before (thank you again for this!), you are now able to close the modal simply by clicking on the background rather than having to go to the 'x' button. Also, I have made the dark mode a bit more contrasty between the background and boxes/cards.

I'm still working on the guide for new users, will share with you once it's done if that's okay :)

            Thank you, Maximal! You're a superstar 🌟
