Hey, IndieHackers! 🚀
Just launched my landing page Validetee – the tool to help you validate your ideas, build and integrate waitlists, and more (based on actuals user needs) 🔥
Looking for some honest feedback to spice it up and of course validate the idea itself :) Please roast it as hard as you can
Your insights mean the world to me! 🙏
Hey @mhase,
This is going to be a hard roast :)
Design:
Your logo font doesn't match your vibe. It feels like those tech consulting companies who grab a "futuristic", "techy" font purely because they're supposed to look techy. It also clashes with the font you use for your copy.
With the name you chose and the use of the fun emojis, you could use that double ee to sound fun, like a kid going down a slide or something. Validateeee!
Or, maybe think about validatemoji.com (still available as I write this). Then you can narrow your product down to something like "Validate your idea with a simple click of an emoji". Now you have brand and brand value tied together. This assumes that the demo on your landing page is how your product works.
The background gradients need to go or be drastically re-worked. You have a dark grey transition to white. You have a greenish tint on one side and a purple tint on the other. It results in a muddy appearance. It also competes with the gradient in your headline text.
When I view the page, this line "Join our waitlist to unlock the Power of Pre-Launch Validation!" is rendered on a light grey part of the gradient which makes the first word "join" very difficult to read. I have good eyesight. I imagine people who don't likely can't make that word out. That's an accessibility issue.
Copy:
"Validate your ideas" -> Kinda basic. Maybe tie into some emotion here? What's the benefit of validating my ideas? Not wasting time on something nobody wants? Dig into this a little more.
"with simple waitlist integration" -> What does that mean? If I come to your page for the first time, what does that mean to me? If you take that line and read it on it's own, it says nothing about the unmet need you're solving. Even if you add the headline back in, it really doesn't say anything. What is the waitlist? An email list? How do I integrate it? Also, don't use unsubstantiated words like "simple". That is subjective. What might be simple to you may be complex to me. Unless you show a metric to quantify "simple", don't use that kind of language.
"Turn curious page visitors into your customers-to-be.
Or... find out that you just saved yourself a lot of time and money."
This gets to the heart of what you're trying to do a little better. It's still a little weak. Nothing tells me how I turn anonymous viewers into leads. I get the idea of how I can save myself time and money if people don't like my idea, I just don't see how this product does that.
Concept:
Please note that I am making some huge assumptions in this feedback.
I used the little widget on the page and inspected the post to see what you were sending in each request.
I see a BIG problem with the concept.
Without the addition of a dislike button, you're not really validating the idea. You're also leaving some valuable data off the table.
If you're only collecting the positives, you have no real way to see the distribution of how the wider market feels about the idea.
I understand some might look at idea validation as "If x number of people like this idea, I'm going for it". But if they could see that out of a Total Addressable Market of x,xxx, xxx people only xx indicated they like the idea, they'd see it may not be worth it to pursue.
Also, if you add a dislike button, you have a golden opportunity to ask for feedback, providing actionable insight into why people don't like the idea. Good info to adjust or pivot.
All that being said, google luck!
What customer pain are you solving for? "Validating ideas" is pretty vague. "Waitlist integration" is a head-scratcher. I can guess, but I'd rather not.
How about something like this for the hero:

After that, it would be helpful to have more details below the fold as to how exactly your product will help me validate my ideas, and what that means. I highly recommend Donald Miller's book, Marketing Made Simple. It's got an in-depth walkthrough of how to organize a landing page for best effect.
Hi, there.
I get the general idea but still don't understand how your tool works.
Can you give curious page visitors like me a clue as to how Validatee works?
The copy is catchy.
Also, your copy could be longer.
I mean, there's no harm in joining the waitlist without getting enough info but I'd rather have an idea of what I'm signing up for before giving you my email address.
I hope this helps.
The contrast makes it hard to read. I don't have a solid idea of what the product is or what it does.
