Validating 15 ideas in 30 days

Hi IHers!

I'm starting a new blog series about validating ideas fast. I have no idea what I'm learning but I'm sure I'll learn over time.

Basically, every 2 days for 30 days, I'm going to:

  1. Build a landing page for a new feature for pagecheck
  2. Promote the landing page and try to get traction

Let me know what you think!

I like this idea for the fact that if you stick with it, you'll learn more in 30 days than a semester worth of classes. I think 2 days is really too few to build any momentum but again you'll learn a lot by moving quickly. I bet you're also going to find some interesting problems that you never thought about either, simply through the act of talking to people and empathizing. Are you planning on blogging about your experiences or posting daily in IH?

    1. 1

I'm planning to write a blog post every day or two about my experience building and promoting the landing page and the results from landing pages.

2 days is definitely too few to gain momentum, but my goal isn't to gain momentum. My goal is to find a pain point and a place where I can add value.

Awesome, I must be exhausted because you said most of that in your OP 💩...

Im definitely curious to see how you go about getting feedback, are you going to use a CTA to as way of gauging intent?

    love the hustle 😊

Are these features that people have requested, or are you just throwing darts at the wall?

    1. 1

I'm throwing darts at the wall and hoping one of them sticks. I have talked to customers to ask them how they're using pagecheck and I'm brainstorming ideas that could be useful to them.

I wouldn't say this is the best approach, but I don't really have any potential users to ask. Over time, hopefully I can migrate more towards testing mostly requested features.

That being said, even if an idea doesn't work, I'll only have wasted 2 days on it instead of 3 months.

I think for experimentation's sake, it's probably good to have a few darts / moon shots in there just to see how people respond. Who makes, one of those ideas may end up leading to feedback that fuels a totally different feature.

Best of luck, excited to see the results!

What would you consider validation? And how will you achieve that in 2 days?
The difference between moving fast and just bouncing around is a thin one...

    1. 1

It's very simple. I'll have a email signup form on my landing pages. I'll also have an automated email that goes out when they sign up. I'll measure how many people sign up for the email list.

And here I am, easily spending a week to fix a single landing page 😅

And oh, you think you spent too much time building a product? I have been working since November 2016 and I'm still not really up and running. I feel slow now...

That's a tough mission. Good luck!

I think #1 is fast as soon as you finish the first one because you can reuse the bulk part. I'm curious about your plan for #2. Two days of promotion can hardly give you anything unless you plan to spend $$$.
