The last time I posted here, I asked people on ways to validate my product, one of the users suggested "The Mom Test". They also suggested that I get people to pay pre launch.
How do I go about this? How do I get people to sign up (and pay) even before the product is launched?
A quick few things from the top of my head:
Create a landing page for your idea with a payment form (Unicorn Platform is highly recommended for creating the page). Describe the benefits people will get from using your product. Add a few product mock ups to the page. If you have the skills - create a 60 second video about your product.
Launch the page on ProductHunt, IndieHackers, HackerNews, RemoteClan, BetaList, BetaPage, relevant subreddits and relevant forums. Talk about it on Twitter, engage with relevant people there and promote it.
Run webinars, meet ups and organise events that are related to your idea. Promote it during those events.
Thanks a lot! I'm new to all this so appreciate it a lot. What if i don't have a following on twitter? How would I go about that? Where would I market said webinars/events to get people to attend?
You can use all the other channels mentioned above to market your content, webinars and anything else you create.
You can also use social media to build your audience. Record podcasts with other people, animate some topical videos and put them on YouTube, do a Clubhouse session with someone who has a bigger following. Just engaging with people is a great way to build a following.
Plus, you can always put some money behind ads if you really want to. Although, there are so many other good ways to market these things that running ads for them is probably not recommended.
Sorry if this is abstract, but the possibilities are really endless. Research where your target audience resides and engage with them there. Provide value for free and they will follow you.
