Validating idea before building: AI productivity app - need honest feedback

Hey everyone 👋

Starting my indie hacker journey after 5 years as a fullstack dev. Building in public, and starting with validation before writing code.

The idea:
AI-powered productivity app that combines goal tracking + pomodoro timer in one simple interface. iOS-first, React Native.

The problem I'm trying to solve:
Most productivity apps are either:

  • Too simple (just checklists)
  • Too complex (project management bloat)
  • Separate tools (goals in one app, timer in another)

Questions for you:

  1. Do you use productivity/goal tracking apps? Which ones?
  2. Do you use focus/pomodoro timers?
  3. If you use both: does switching between apps kill your flow?
  4. Would you pay $5-7/month for ONE integrated solution?

What I'm really asking:
Is this a real problem worth solving, or am I overthinking my own workflow issues? 🤔

Honest feedback appreciated - trying to validate before investing weeks of dev time.

Tech stack: React Native (Expo), Supabase, OpenAI API

Thanks! 🙏
