Hi guys, I ran a little test for a project that I'm working on. I used google ads and a landing page to see if anyone would be interested, I don't have the product fully built yet, but I was curious lol.
If they clicked the ad they would see the landing page with a "Get notified by email when we launch" form . I ran 1 google ad(targeting 8 key words) for 1 full day and got 440 impressions 20.5% average click through rate and 8 email signups.
Is that good or not? Is the test too short? I read a click through rate of 2-3% is good. This thing is at 20.5% am i missing something? Any feed would be great thanks guys :)
20.5 % is a super high click through rate! It shows either a) your ad is really affective and/or b) no one is targeting this market yet. I'm curious to know what your target market is and what keywords you were using!
Honestly for this test the clickthrough rate isn't the most important piece - it's the email sign ups and cost of acquisition.
Overall I'd say: just this one test looks like its a good sign! Do you have the budget to run the ad over a few days? It could give you a sense if these rates are sustainable in the long run, even if it's just for a landing page.
Don’t validate on numbers. Talk to customers, without pitching. Ask them leading questions tell they say they wish they had your solution.
Interesting, thanks for your input.
Is it b2b sass?
No its for consumers
Ah whole different ball game! Good luck!
20.5% does sound amazing. Maybe even so high that you could continue to get traffic profitably this way even after launching? How expensive were the clicks?
The clicks had an average cost of $1.13 (Australian Dollars)the products I would be selling on average cost $65(USD) margin is 20-30%. Do u think that makes it viable? We still wont know what the actual sales conversion rate is until the actual site is launched. Thanks for your reply.
So about $13 AUD per e-mail signup. It seems that even if 100% of your e-mail signups converted to paid customers, you'd only just about break even?
Maybe someone else can share whether it's ever the case that one might get as many sales as email signups.
How much did you spend on the ads? You have to figure out how to value an email signup, which you can only do once you're selling your finished product.
Great numbers @hackerlatino
Still hard to tell until you convert. Did you set any ad groups? Out of the 8 emails, how many of them are not spam mail?
They all seemed to be personal emails. Like name@gmail.com. They don't look spammy. I'm not getting spammy vibes from them
^ Yeah, this. I leave validation off of my email form but it does bring in spam signups from time to time. Given your unit economics, this sounds like a possible risk.
@hackerlatino share the landing page
