I lost my job a few years ago. Contracted for awhile. Searched for a long-term job. Started it. Didn't work out. Restarted the entire search again. Now at a new job. I also get spammed by recruiters all the time for things I am not interested in, or that they keep covert until I answer.
Let's face it. Looking for gigs is a pain. You are either competing on public posts with thousands of others or being bothered about roles you are not interested in. On the other side of this equation, the people with the skills AND that are interested in your company are hard to find. The apps/sites in this space are doing everything except connecting the two most important people in the equation: the job/contract seeker and person at the company with the need for those skills.
What if there was a platform that let you look for available gigs where the company actually had to pitch you (short video or compelling copy), instead of throwing out a list of lame criteria they copied from other job sites? What if you could be pitched by good people with the skills you need at your company and get a sense of that person's personality?
What if you could do this in a way that you knew right away you were both interested?
The Pitch: Membership-only gig finding platform which takes a Tinder-like approach to matching a gig with a skilled freelancer. Both parties need to put out their best pitch to each other. Swipe left or right (not the exact interaction, but you get the point) and when there's a match, the magic connection happens with a meeting to chat further.
Note: We're starting with short-term work because it seems more appropriate than how you might approach looking for a longer-term employee.
Muchas gracias for your critical feedback here.
You should have pre-determined constraints for the projects-to-be-done so that it doesn't become a disappointing relationship for both parties.
What do you think of this co: https://www.moonlightwork.com/
Thank you for the feedback. Agree!
Moonlight Work is interesting. It would be similar-ish, without revealing the individuals publicly, because not everyone wants their employer to know they are moonlighting :)
We could prevent your employer from ever seeing your pitch card if they join the platform.
