Venture studios?

What are your impressions on venture studios? I hear good things, but naturally suspicious. Obviously, nothing is a sure thing, not even YC, but are venture studios something to be cautious of? thoughts?

Why cautious? Venture studios traditionally combine multiple entities under one roof. That means that they can share resources (e.g. you can hire earlier for a new product) and are often able to use similar foundations, like shared tech or marketing plans.

So to say, every IndieHacker working on more than one product is running a venture studio 🤔

Some are extremely successful with that (Tiny, for example), for others that may be a struggle and the focus is better on a single product.

That helps. I have an opportunity upcoming. Wasn't sure how to take it. I was just wondering if there was a downside iwasnt aware of.

The thing is, everyone claims they are a venture studio these days. What does it actually mean?

If you are considering a job opportunity - what is the offer? Equity included?

If its starting on your own, as @dqmonn mentioned, venture studio is just a definition for a vague experimenting with products. Anyone can do it.

Everyone might have a very different structure in mind.

It's not a job offer, it's an offer to work with them. They are going to take equity, but I also think this comes with a set of funding as well. I obviously have to take it, working on my own is freaking lonely and hard. I am not getting the traction I want or need. I worry about sunk costs and the thought of failing.
