I have recently invested some time to learn about product led growth and I believe that it will be the future for most SaaS companies.
Any developer can now build a product and compete vs huge companies.
We have done it with http://versoly.com/, we compete vs companies with 2000+ employees that are worth billions of dollars.
I also believe that video is a great medium to share content, so the goal is to learn two new skills while helping out other Indie Hackers.
I would love your feedback on the first video. Be gentle :)
For those who aren't interested in video but want to learn about product led growth.
In the video I showed how we changed the UX of two features, one that is used often and another that is very powerful but not many customers know about.
Forms are used a lot, however because Versoly has a lot of flexibility the customer have to connect the forms manually to the Versoly backend by clicking a button.
That button is hard to find and it is our #1 customer support request.
We plan on making a video on how to create, hook up and use a form. But in today's video I wanted to show how adding one button should help a lot to reduce customer support and delight customers.
Another feature we have is global blocks. They allow customers to use the same block in many places. Very useful for navbars, footers, call to actions and testimonials.
The feature isn't used much because most customers don't know about it, so what we did is add an extra button in the page editor to allow them to click once and create a global block.
First this makes it a lot easier to create a global block, before you would have to create a new global block, copy the code and paste it into the code editor. For a no code tool that wasn't a good UX.
It is also a good way to show customers that we actually have that feature.
Tomorrow I will share more changes we plan on making and will dig into our conversion rates and the goals we want to achieve by making all of these changes.
Would perhaps be interesting to hear about your process for getting feedback from users, how you get in touch and stay connected or if things just come in as support requests, as without any feedback there's nothing to inform the product changes. Also if you do A/B tests and how you go about them. The results will be interesting to hear 👍
Thanks will talk a little about it.
We don't do A/B testing at the moment would be nice to do later on.
Hey Volkan,
Can you recommend some good resources to read about the product led growth? As a developer myself I would rather go that route instead of marketing and sales if it is viable!
PS I think that your video is good.
PPS I think people will still forget to connect a form from time to time. Tilda solves it by adding a huge banner under the form if it is not connected. You might consider doing the same.
That is genius the "banner". I will add today and show everyone how it works.
I watched https://productled.com/product-led-growth-definition/ and follow Wes bush.
