Vibe Coding Is Making Me Sleep Later

Vibe Coding Is Making Me Sleep Later

I’ve noticed something weird recently.

Vibe coding was supposed to help me finish faster.

Instead, I’m sleeping later.

Before AI, if I got stuck on something at night, I’d usually stop.

Now it’s different.

I tell myself:

One more prompt.

Then the AI finishes it.

I test it.

Almost right.

So I send another prompt.

Then I notice another small problem.

Another prompt.

And suddenly it’s 2:17 AM.

The problem isn’t that AI coding is slow.

It’s actually the opposite.

It keeps giving you the feeling that you’re only one step away from being done.

But software is never really done.

There’s always one more bug, one more screen, one more tiny improvement.

And because you’re building something, it doesn’t feel like wasting time.

It feels productive.

That makes it even harder to stop.

I realized I didn’t really need another productivity tool.

I needed something to tell me:

Enough. Continue tomorrow.

So I built SleepLock: Must-Sleep Alarm.

At bedtime, instead of another notification I can ignore, it makes me put my iPhone face down for a few seconds.

A tiny physical action.

But for me, it means:

phone down, laptop closed, day over.

If vibe coding has also turned your “just 10 more minutes” into 2 AM, you probably know what I mean.

And if it actually helps you sleep earlier, I’d really appreciate a review.

Curious:

Has AI coding helped you finish earlier — or made you stay up even later?
