Video Diary — Telegram bot for keeping a personal video diary

History

Hi there! I’m sure I’m not the only person who makes short videos about some important moments, achievements and insights. Such information does not benefit others and is only a personal documentation of some points, so there is no need to post it on the social media.

I’ve used private chats for recording and storing the videos. Then Telegram has added folders, and it has become possible to save all the dialogs of such kind on one page. It could be stopped here, but I wished I had a tool that would act as a video manager with „folders”, simplifying the process of storing and viewing materials as comfortably as possible. That’s how "videodiarybot" (https://t.me/videodiarybot) has appeared.

Service’s aim

Telegram bot users can store videos about their insights, achievements and actions in an orderly manner, as a sequence of videos grouped by a common theme. Every such a theme is a separate diary that you can watch whenever you want.

How does it work?

After starting the bot, you will be offered to create a new diary.

It is possible to create up to 10 diaries on different themes.

By clicking on a certain dialog, you will open the mode for viewing its history.

In order to save a new video, send the video to the bot or record another one. After that you will be offered to choose a diary to add the video in it.

Summary

The service is quite simple, but at the same time it carries out its duties completely. It took just several afternoons to create it.
My main purpose was to invent something simple to work with for the end user and also me. That’s why the bot deletes unnecessary messages to focus attention on the precise menu. And the process of adding videos consists only of two steps: send the video and click the button.
