It has been almost a year since we entered the new normal.
I get tired easily.
In virtual events, you need extra attention, your eyes, ears, brain, etc.
Don't get me wrong. I still participate in virtual events especially my favorite topics.
Many events look like clones, and the speakers are being reused in one event after another.
Don’t be surprised if your sign up has not increased.
Because you don’t take the participant’s experience seriously.
Zoom is common, but not the only solution. There are many alternatives to help create gamification, teamwork, stage experience, etc.
Can people easily find similar content? Organize a unique event based on the voice of the customer and identify diversified speakers.
Trend? It works when you are fast enough and have the courage to become a pioneer or expert in a specific industry.
Be an expert facilitator instead of another virtual event host.
I've curated a good amount of resources to help you achieve this goal with the resources you need.
Happy community building!
Unless I want to interact with the presenters or attendees , I prefer viewing video recordings !
Same here! When I sign up for virtual events, my main aim is getting the recordings to watch at a convenient time.
That’s a good point tho. You’ve more autonomy in terms of pace, when to watch and so on
I lean towards and recommend smaller groups, that do goal-oriented activities through shorter live sessions and more async collaboration.

I'm burnt out on attempted broadcast style conferences right now.
I feel you! That’s exactly what engaged conversation looks like. When was you last time participating in a session that you enjoyed?
We just finished up an weekly Android Book Club that started in July. Worked out great. Will probably do another book club after the new year.
I'm tired of long events.
1-2 hour sessions work for me, anything more than that and it becomes difficult to justify it. I appreciate these sessions, especially if they are small and I feel like I actually get a chance to get to know people.
When it is just a video of someone talking I tend not to bother unless I'm super interested in the topic. I usually add it somewhere to watch later (and of course never end up watching it!)
Totally agree with you. 2 hours timespan is somewhat the maximum. And I think 20 mins per person too.
Unless the event is super valuable and able to provide a good networking experience. Otherwise I’d prefer watching a video at 1.5 speed.
Hey @felix12777!
At oVice (ovice.in), we provide access to virtual spaces for our users where they can customize it and make it their own! You can turn it into a virtual office, host events, study space, etc. - For our events in particular, you can embed different types of media and online games for your avatars to engage in together and it makes it a very fun way to bond in a virtual space!
Our goal is to really optimize the remote work experience by giving our users the ability to interact with their peers in real time to help promote connectedness and collaboration.
Check us out at https://tour-en.ovice.in/ to have a look around and see how it works :)
Felix, this is an awesome list you've put together! I love that it's on Notion, really cool style. Was wondering if you're open to adding more tools? My startup Mixily is helping people host better virtual events. We have a few hundred users hosting cooking classes, yoga, conferences and more. Nice designer, cheaper ticket fees, Zoom integration, and human centered features. Would be awesome if you could include Mixily on your tool list! I'd be happy to share your list on Twitter.

Sure thing! Your tool fits perfectly well. You can submit on my website https://virtualmojito.com/ - will approve and follow up shortly @mirayaberke
Awesome, just submitted! Thank you! I followed you on Twitter and I'll be sure to share the list and tag you once we're included.
Thanks for your post! For both preventing 'zoom fatigue' and 'airtime hijacking', we now have a fishbowl convo system with a rotating stage of 9 participants.
Then we can have participants who can attend without showing their face and/or just listening the convo (like a podcast). For privacy reasons we do not record or stream our live video convos.

Hey you’re welcome! It’s definitely an interesting approach. How’s the feedback from the community so far?
More satisfied members than unsatisfied ones.

Full-remote teams might work out for short-term gigs but for core work and strategy hybrid teams are better approach.
