Wanna blow of some steam๐Ÿ˜ค? ROAST our LP

https://unidate.io?utm_source=indihackers&utm_medium=social

Founders/makers ๐Ÿ‘‹

This week we launched the LP of our brainchild Unidate ๐ŸŽ‰.

Unidate will be a Swiss army knife for dealing with time zones, but we are far from there yet... since we are still evaluating the problem.

Would love to hear you feedback on our LP tho ๐Ÿ˜Ž
Thanks!

    Feedback:

    1. 'The simplest way to convert time in Gmail' is weak. Had to read it multiple times. I expected save time etc. Try for another way to say it. Something like 'automatic time zone conversion in Gmail' sub heading 'Never manually type a time zone again.'

    2. Add of a gif of the process. Show don't tell.

    3. Put the old way, and the new way directly together. Don't waste the before and after chance. I want to see the old way, then immediately the new way.

Short and concise, I agree on all of them. Really dig the new and old way idea, that rocks! We have a gif in works now, so that will definitely have a positive impact on the whole perception. Thanks again for your thoughts and feedback ๐Ÿ™Œ

Hey. Congratulations for the product. With my MarTech background I can quickly suggest 4 areas for improvement:

    1. Make your LP mobile friendly and declutter it a bit.
    2. Communication language can be improved. Use grammarly maybe.
    3. Place CTA (Call-to-action) fields only at two places - Top and Bottom. The top most CTA should also highlight the Amazon Gift Card thing.
    4. Instead of making user check the box to get agree on your T&C, change it text like โ€˜By submitting you are agreeing to our T&Cโ€™ and drop the checkbox.

Thanks for the wishes and your time writing up the improvements ๐Ÿ’ช

    My thoughts:

Visually, everything over the fold looks very pretty. I like the color scheme and the round corners. However, I do get a feeling that there is just so much in here. Two CTA buttons. Two screenshots. Two people with a heart emoji. At least half a dozen colors. At least half a dozen different font styles.

It's all pretty, but it's just a bit too much, in my opinion. This is especially paradoxical since your main selling point seems to be simplicity. You're not convincing me that your product is simple, if your landing page starts with this much complexity. Even your logo is complicated.

I really like the "the problem" area. It looks visually perhaps a bit bland with the gray background color, but the content is great.

Not sure about the "the present" section. Do I really need to see a video on how I do something right now? I mean, it's me who is doing it, I know how I'm handling times and time zones now, why would I want to watch a video of saying how I do it now?

I don't like the use of the blue font for "Not the hardest thing ..." text. Blue font typically indicates a text link.

Offering the chance to win a $25 gift card by joining is an odd way to try to create an incentive to join. It feels almost like gambling, and not in a good way. Why not just tell me something about how are you going to price this thing after you launch, and say that people in the waitlist get a cheaper early adopter pricing, or something along those lines?

I think the "use cases" is a bit too much. At this point, I get it already. Times and time zones. I know what the problems are and how you can solve them.

I like the Niko talking to the Grumpy cat. That was a nice touch.

However, this was the first time that it was said that this service is going to be completely free. I think this is brought up way too late (yes, you do mention a "Free Chrome extension", but that doesn't mean that the service would be free).

I don't know how much I like the "join the community" pitch. It reminds me of the meme about Microsoft asking would you recommend Windows to your friends, and the meme says they need to understand that people don't normally bring up recommendations for Windows operating system in any kind of everyday conversation. That's a bit how I feel about the whole community thing here. Yes, I see what you are doing, and yes, I think this would be a cool little app that solves an actual problem. But no, I don't really know if I want to be a part of any community about times and time zones.

Clicking Privacy Policy at the end of the page doesn't seem to work. It just opens a blank page. Which is not a great look, considering the main purpose of this page is to collect email addresses. Without a Privacy Policy, we have no idea how you are going to use these email addresses and who are you going to share them with.

Overall, I think this seems like a good idea, the website looks very pleasant and most of the copy is good.

On that note, I wish this would also be a simple web app. I don't use Chrome, nor do I like the idea of installing browser extensions unless absolutely necessary. But I would probably use something like this, if it was a simple web app.

    Good luck!

Wow, many thanks for taking the time & energy for writing up such a deep and detailed explanation. You pointed out a lot of important and legit points (simplifying the site, especially the hero section is spot on), that will help us improve the site and messaging even more so.

A few people have expressed the same concerns with the incentive and at this point we are really starting to question our decision of adding it. We were afraid we don't have enough to show at this point, an actual app so that users would know what they are actually signing up for, but clearly this was not the best way to do so.

Making a web app is on the roadmap, since we want to be as platform agnostic as possible, Gmail & Chrome were just a no brainer for starters, since it is also has big user base + it can be most convenient as you type Emails.

Once again thanks for the amazing feedback, this was super valuable for us ๐Ÿ™Œ

First of all Niko and Andrea, congratulations on the LP launch.

I surely can relate to the time conversion problem, always converting CET to all kinds of time zones manually.

    As for the LP:

went over it once and here is where it got confusing:

    1. Niko's time conversion walkthrough video - without reading the title, i thought there was going to be a Unidate walkthrough, it wasn't. Then I read the title: The old way.

My 2 cents: Put walkthrough at least after the Steps section or completely remove it. Why? The steps already demonstrate how we do it now.

And I think that the screenshot in the end shows how it's done with Unidate.

    Hopefully this was helpful.
And Niko ( in Slovenian ): Super zadeva, samo naprej.

Thanks a lot Jan! Really happy to e-meet a fellow slovenec, here on IH ๐Ÿ˜Ž
As you pointed our (rightfully so) the video doesn't have any real "weight". The best replacement for it would be to put a product demo which you and many users miss.

Currently we are still in the problem evaluation phase.

Before we launched this LP we knew that the lack of actual product would leave many things to be desired, but we went with it anyway, because of one crucial thing - community feedback.

We got so much critical feedback from users and we absolutely love it ๐Ÿ˜ That's the best way to know if you are on to something.

You got that right, launching fast and seeing if there is an interest and after that receiving feedback, you kill two flies at once ( no disrespect to the flies ).

Can't wait for the comments! Let's roll :)
