I compiled a list of 330 places where you can list your startup and get traffic flowing in:
234 profile/directory sites (Product Hunt, G2, Capterra, SourceForge, AI directories, etc.)
39 design galleries (Awwwards, Land Book, Site Inspire, etc.)
35 communities and subreddits
15 publications (TechCrunch, GeekWire, Betakit, etc.)
7 misc
Each entry has the info on whether it's free or paid (208 free, 122 paid) and a domain rank score so you can prioritize by SEO value.
Hope it saves someone a weekend!
PS: We're Harvard-backed and are growing IbexAI rapidly -- it's an AI agent that scans LinkedIn and finds people who are interested in your product. Do you need people interested in what you offer? Then check it out here.
My new project Emusic Tools, search it on Google if you want
Thanks for sharing this I actually picked out a few services from the list that I hadn’t considered before I’ll test them and see how useful they are in practice, but either way, I appreciate the work you put into compiling it. Lists like this can easily save people a lot of time…Small funny note I first tried opening it from my phone and thought my phone was going to give up on me, but later I opened it from desktop and it worked fine ))
I truly think this is a great list; it’s better than guessing. ~
One point that I have encountered, however, is precisely what you suggested: Not all traffic feels the same.
Certain locations attract individuals who are actively seeking something unique, while others merely elicit interest before one moves on without commitment. Even if the numbers look similar, the results feel completely different. What has been more effective in my case would be going deeper on a smaller set and not trying to hit everything.
For example, completing your profile, answering comments, making adjustments to its appearance - these are easy steps to skip if you just submit. And then the rest was used as background coverage more like a “might as well be there” approach.
It is also recommended to track conversations instead of clicks. Clicks might provide a pleasant sensation, yet they do not really inform one much. I'm curious about what you have seen so far was there anything that surprised you with where people actually engage vs just view?
Super helpful breakdown, Matt, especially the DR and free/paid split. Totally agree that the real win is being intentional about where you show up, not just blasting every directory.
We’ve seen the same thing with SaaS founders using Right Suite: when messaging and positioning are dialed into a few high-intent channels, activation and paid conversions move way faster than ‘list everywhere and hope.’
Curious which 5–10 sites from your list actually drove signups vs just backlinks?
This is a super useful resource — thanks for putting it together!
The breakdown by categories and domain rank is especially helpful for prioritizing efforts. Curious to know which platforms have brought you the best results so far in terms of actual traffic or conversions?
This is gold — I’ve wasted hours searching for good directories manually, this kind of list saves a ton of time 🙌
Filtering by free + domain rank is especially useful for actually getting results, not just posting everywhere blindly.
SOS! Thank you, Mr. Bauer.
Honestly what I needed, I am struggling with SEO as I just launched in March. Thank you!
Super useful, Thank you (:
Thank you
Super useful list, this saves a lot of time.
Curious, from your experience, which 3 platforms actually drove the most meaningful traffic or users?
Nice list! Thank you, very useful.
This is nice. It saves lots of time doing personal searches.
very useful thanks !
This is super useful. I think the message here is "find the site that most resonates with your startup to post on" vs carpet bomb all of them. At least that's how I'm reading it =]
Great resource! Thanks, Matt.
Hey, nice list, quick question: if I want to launch something for developers, like a framework, where’s the best place to get traction?
Most of the communities reward authentic & active members, how do you manage to actually get involved in all of them? How is it with the galleries, what do they want in return?
Perfect Timing!!! Awsome list!! way more to work with than the 3-4 im currently using to launch!! Thanks again!!
Nice resource, but dumping your startup on 300+ directories usually turns into low-signal spam rather than real traction. The real leverage is picking a few high-intent channels and tailoring your positioning for each, not mass listing everywhere.
Curious — have you seen actual traffic/conversion data from this (not just backlinks)? And which 5–10 platforms ended up driving meaningful users vs just vanity SEO?
Thanks for the great list, I'll be spending the next few days making heavy use of it :)
This is genuinely valuable. A lot of founders focus so much on building that they forget distribution is just as important.
Thanks for sharing, just wanted to ask do we get backlinks from this?
