Was getting to the Hacker News front page worth it?

Did it bring you any users? What was your experience with it?
For me, being a top-voted comment brought actually more signups than being on the front page itself.
it was the first place i posted and overnight got 15k views. Sadly it has slowed down to a crawl after that.
