Hi everyone,
I'm going to start an e-commerce and I'm doing a good research before launching it, like a good indiehacker. It seems that the product that I want to search is really demanded in Latin America. I concluded this from Google Trends, but this information is not enough for me. I would like to know as much as possible from this specific people. Any idea of which tools can I use?
For fashion/jewellery, it's particularly important to break down the target audience into very specific groups. This can be demographics (age, gender) but also into personas to help you identify how to speak to/market to those audiences.
You haven't provided a lot of info, so I'll write some general advice based on what friends selling jewellery have done.
Look at the style of the jewellery you want to sell and who else sells/markets similar styles. What do their audiences look like? Gender, age group, values, price sensitivity, etc.
For example, if you're selling chokers, the target audience are more likely to be younger girls/women, and therefore might be more price sensitive and care less about quality, background of the item, it's making process etc.
If you're making more sustainable jewellery, for example if it's custom made, made locally, made with certain fair trade certification etc, your target audience is likely to be older, less price sensitive, stronger values, might even be better educated, etc.
You can try to find this out by looking at other brands or stores and how they market and "speak" about their product, and to whom. Look on instagram and see what type of people seem to be responding well, or might be tagging brands as hashtags or in their photos with those styles of jewellery.
I can't think of any tools to do this for you, most of it is market research 101, and will require some investigation on your own.
Looking at other brands/stores might help you piggyback a bit on their work.
