We (accidentally) went viral on HackerNews

A day before our official launch on ProductHunt, we went viral on HackerNews. Randomly, someone posted a year-old blog post of ours called "the ominous opacity of the AWS bill" on HN. Within 24 hrs, we had 10,000+ uniques, 50 new companies entered pilots/trials, had nearly 200 upvotes and 100 comments. HackerNews is powerful...

I have 3 insights to glean from this experience:

[1] AWS billing pain is alive and well. Literally, OP's pain point is the same we lamented on a year ago, and not much has changed. It's reassuring that we're solving a problem with lasting effects.

[2] Take the time to publish some thought-pieces. You never know when they can be picked up, and the ROI on a piece of good content (even as a startup with virtually no exposure) can be astronomical.

If you want to read more into our launch, we're live on ProductHunt.

It's simple (yet effective, and you can go deeper) AWS cost management developers really like using. We have many cloud-native companies of decent scale using it and we really want to solve the aforementioned problems.

Also, what do you think is most painful with AWS billing? If it matters enough, we'll build it.

Oh, and happy re:Invent if you're there!

Thank you! The momentum hasn't stopped. Added another 25 companies since the post. This has been one of the best 2 day spans of my life!
