We automated competitor and customer stalking — one customer closed a $44K deal using our tool!

Quick backstory

Over the years, we have worked across Fortune 500 companies, large enterprises, and YC-backed startups globally and that experience made one thing very clear.

Most teams want to stay ahead of competitors and stay informed of customers... but tracking competitors and customers is still messy and slow. The tools are old, the data is noisy, and people end up using 2–3 tools, copy-pasting links, sharing screenshots, and spending almost 40 hours a month just to create a report.

But leaders don’t want more data. They want clear answers: What changed? Why does it matter? What should we do next?

That’s why we built SignalPilot.

We recently spoke to 12 B2B GTM/marketing teams and agencies on 1-1 calls last week.

All of them said this: "we track competitors and customers on LinkedIn..."

BUT the main issue is that it's a very manual process and 80% of the time they miss critical information!

And to track competitors/customers, it takes 40+ hours of manual scrolling, screenshots, copy-pasting links every month.

(Especially if you want real insights weekly)

DAMN... that's more than one full work week!

So as builders we got to work and built a simple tool from first principles thinking.

After testing the tool extensively for 100's of hours and closely working with 5 B2B teams and agencies.

We have built the single most effective way to track competitors, ideal customers, and even win 2x more deals!

It's not another "monitor everything" tool... just 5 signals B2B teams actually ACT on:

  1. Their positioning and messaging changes

  2. Top 1% performing posts (what messaging works)

  3. Posts AI‑tagged by intent (launch, event, hiring, partnership)

  4. Their hiring trends and recent partnerships (who, where, what)

  5. Events and conferences competitors and customers are attending

The workflow

  1. Plug in your competitor + ICP LinkedIn profiles

  2. Get weekly 15-min summary of the most important signals

  3. Your GTM team sees what matters without hours of stalking on LinkedIn

Outcome

  • Cost saved: ~$30K / year

  • Error rates: down by ~80%

  • Time saved: ~40 hours / month

  • Customers closed deals 28% faster

The $44k deal story

Competitor posted about attending a conference. Our customer saw it in their weekly brief. Reached out to 15 attendees BEFORE the event. Booked 8 meetings. closed 1 deal in 30 days. Would've 100% missed that post manually.

And we're FINALLY launching it to the public.

Questions for my B2B indie makers here

  1. Do you track competitors manually? how much time does it take?

  2. Do you track customers too or just competitors? (we found tracking both = better intel)

  3. What would actually make you switch from manual → paid tool?

    • Time savings?

    • Better intel quality?

    • Positioning and messaging?

  4. Should we focus on SALES teams (care about deals) or PRODUCT MARKETING (care about positioning)?

We welcome your BRUTAL feedback!

Thank you 🙏 and a very happy New Year 🎉

P.S. If you're doing competitor intel at your company and want early access, comment below or book a friendly demo call (no sales pitch 😄). Would love to show you what we built.

This resonates hard. We had the same breaking point — found out a competitor dropped their price from a prospect on a sales call. Three weeks after it happened.

The manual tab-spiral approach doesn't scale, and enterprise tools like Crayon/Klue are $500+/month overkill for most teams.

I'm building CompWatch AI to solve exactly this for the SMB segment — weekly AI-written digest to inbox or Slack, 5-minute setup. Currently in validation mode, would love to hear what features matter most to you at this stage.

The market for "competitor intelligence that doesn't require a full-time analyst" is genuinely wide open.

Congrats on the launch, looks solid. How are you currently thinking about acquiring early users and gathering feedback?
