Hey Indie Hackers,
Our team recently launched Trackly. It’s a tool for remote team monitoring and productivity analytics.
We are hitting a major growth and positioning roadblock, and we need some marketing brainpower from this group.
Here is our problem:
The word "tracking" or "monitoring" immediately triggers a negative, toxic reaction among remote employees (understandably so!). But remote founders and managers genuinely need visibility to prevent burnout, manage workloads, and see who is stuck.
We want to position Trackly as a tool for transparency and support, not a digital prison.
For those who have marketed sensitive SaaS products:
How would you position a product like this? Should we pivot the messaging completely to "Productivity Analytics" or "Team Alignment"?
How can we write landing page copy that appeals to managers without alienating the employees who have to install it?
Would love to hear your thoughts on how to tackle this positioning challenge!
Don't solve this with a softer noun. Team alignment still becomes surveillance if the product exposes individual activity only to managers. Make the promise symmetric: employees see exactly what managers see, data stays at workload and blocker level rather than keystrokes or screenshots, retention is short, and people can challenge a signal. The positioning should follow the permission model.
For a dedicated employee, it is actually a good thing when their hard work is recognized, and they feel happy about it. Naturally, someone who wastes time might be afraid of this visibility. However, our tool brings transparency and fairness to both sides.
The staff can see exactly how they are being tracked nothing happens behind their backs or outside their expectations. Everything is fully transparent right in front of them so they know what is being monitored, which helps them stay accountable. It is strictly built for clarity and support, not for spying.
This is a sharp positioning problem — "monitoring" triggers fear, but the buyer often wants visibility, not surveillance.
One thing that usually helps: don't hunt "employee monitoring software" posts. Hunt pain language like "I don't know what my remote team is doing", "standups don't tell me enough", "missed updates", "too many blockers stay hidden".
I built a small tool that scores those threads daily (discovery only, not auto-posting). If useful, I can map a sample for your ICP on a short call — or send a feed if you share the subs you think these buyers already post in.
We are actually focusing on solving these exact pain points that managers face. I would love to learn more about your tool! Is it free or paid? Also, does it pull current, real-time data, or does it show data from months ago? I'd be happy to check it out.
Quick clarify so we don’t talk past each other:
ThreadScout isn’t a team tracker / monitoring product. It’s a daily Reddit digest: finds threads where your ICP describes the pain (e.g. managers stuck between accountability and micromanagement), scores them, and drafts a non-spammy reply.
Pricing: paid — $39/mo (sometimes $59/3mo). For founders i give 19$ for the first month and a refund option, you can cancel subscribtion any time.
Usually I run a free sample first on your niche.
Freshness: pulls recent posts (not a months-old archive). Real-time-ish daily, not live second-by-second.
If you’re hunting Reddit for managers with that exact pain for your tracker — happy to show a sample or do 10 min. If you were looking for an actual team-tracking product, I’m the wrong tool.
Got it, thanks for the clarification! I would like to test a free trial first before making a decision to buy. Would it be possible to get a one-month demo trial?
Honestly, I haven't heard much about this specific type of tool before. Most people use well-established platforms like Apollo for lead generation because they are highly effective, so I'm still a bit skeptical about how unique or impactful this solution is. I'd love to take you up on that free sample you mentioned to see how it actually works!
Quick heads-up: the feed I sent you was a one-time snapshot — that's the free sample. The actual product is that same feed refreshed every morning with new threads.
You already told me the scoring matches your instinct. The open question is whether the daily version turns into real conversations for you. $19 first month, refund if it doesn't — you're not risking anything except finding out.
Want me to switch your feed to daily?
quick follow-up — I already ran a small scored sample for Trackly (attendance / remote team ops pain on Reddit):
https://threadscout-theta.vercel.app/feed/bc3c55b0-b41e-4045-9331-e51f0b115fdf
Mark 2–3 threads “yes I’d reply” / “no.”
If useful: $19 founder first month + refund if it doesn’t fit. No open free month.
Hey Mukul — still happy to run the sample.
Need from you:
Or 10 min call and we map it live. If now’s not the time, no worries — I’ll close this out.
Happy to do the free sample first
Quick vs Apollo: Apollo is contact DB / outbound. ThreadScout is different — daily Reddit threads where your ICP already describes the pain, scored + a non-spammy reply draft. Not email lists.
For the sample I need:
I’ll send a scored feed. You mark 2–3 threads “yes I’d reply” / “no.”
On a free month: I don’t do open-ended free access, cuz people ghost. As i said earlier, we have 19$ founder price and refund option, so if you like that you can do instead — first month at $19, and if after using it you don’t want to continue refund that month. So if it doesn’t fit, you effectively get the month free
Sample first → if you like that, i'll drop payment link with founder price 19$
sorry brother didn't want to bother you. i just clear you i dont wanna pay you for that
👏👏
Thanks for the encouragement! Appreciate it. 😊
