We built a scraper that catches when competitors pay for ad placement on Swiggy Instamart

Swiggy Instamart has no public API. If you sell FMCG or grocery products there, the only way to check your pricing, stock, or search ranking used to be opening the app and searching manually, over and over, across cities.

That does not scale, so Smacient built the Swiggy Instamart Data Extractor, an Apify actor that pulls real-time product data for any search term or category, in any Indian city.

The part worth mentioning: every result comes back with an isAd field and, when it is true, an adTitle field showing the exact banner headline Swiggy served for that sponsored listing. That means the dataset does not just show prices, it shows exactly which brands are paying for visibility on a given keyword, and what ad copy they are running to win it.

Beyond that, each product row includes price, MRP, discount, savings, price per unit, rating, review count, stock status, category, and a timestamp. Search by keyword, or pull an entire category by pasting in a Collection ID from any Instamart category page.

It has been live on Apify since February, priced from $5 per 1,000 results, currently sitting around 136 users and a 94% run success rate. Most usage so far comes from pricing teams and D2C brands running daily or hourly checks, plus a few agencies pulling it for client competitive reports.

Next up is adding scheduled sponsored-placement alerts, so instead of pulling data and checking manually, users get pinged the moment a new competitor starts bidding on their core keywords.

I'm curious what made competitor ad visibility emerge as the highest-value signal instead of pricing or inventory.

Was that something customers were already asking for, or did it become obvious once you started collecting the data?
